Mella Hotel

Staffs are cheerful and friendly at the beginning only. There were lots of awkward moment since they made mistakes with our request and bookings then blamed us for it and asked payment for services we did not avail or used. Rooms are dirty with some weird smell. Bathroom door was defective (doesn’t close or open smoothly). Small shower rooms. In general family/group rooms are pretty small. Outside paint and building looks faded and old. Surroundings are not safe if you want to stroll and explore the area. Hotel was built beside the cemetery so it a bit scary to look outside the window at night.

New hotel, open 6 months. NOT set up for foreigners. The area is not a tourist area, so the majority of guests are not foreigners. Stayed there 2x, 2 days each time. The hotel was in the area I had business in. The good... OK room, bed, shower, hot water, parking, and AC. SM -Sucat mall about 1 mile away - 15 minute walk. Fast food and small (locals) nightclub on the same property as the hotel. Not very far from airport, so local taxi ride is $7- $9 in local money (350-450 pesos). Hotel does foreign money changing. The bad. Only hotel in area, airport taxi drivers not familiar with it yet, no hotel business office, so no computer or printer available for guest use. No hotel taxi service, so you need to go down to the road and flag a passing taxi. The 1st room found 4 baby roaches. None in the 2nd room. The worst part of the rooms are that the lights are incorrectly wired, so even when turned off, they emit a dim glow, lighting up the room at night. Over the bed, there is a wifi router with a VERY bright green light flashing 24/7. Bring duct tape to cover it. The restaurant food is NOT for foreigners! Good staff delivers undercooked bacon and runny eggs with a smile. Every day. Buffet breakfast OK for locals but not foreigners. A nice salad bar ... for breakfast! Hotel following a city wide major hotel trend in hiring men-only as room cleaning staff (less potential legal liability??) As the area grows, hotel will be more foreign friendly in food and rooms.
