Scandic Voss

Booked a std twin room for our overnight stay in Voss for our family of 4. The room had 2 twin beds and a couch which worked out well. View was good too of the mountains. Room did have a fridge but no microwave or coffee maker. The included breakfast spread was the best we have seen so far.. had a lot of variety. Parking is not included but we’re able to find street parking easily which is free between 5pm-9am. All in all highly recommend this hotel.

Pros: - Next to Voss gondola and the beautiful lake of Voss. - Lake view rooms have a beautiful view over the lake. - Just by the bus and train station. So, it's a good choice if you're coming by public transportation with your luggage. Otherwise, it's tough if you're coming by car (your car or a taxi. See below). - Rooms were clean and have recycling bins. - The breakfast buffet is big and has a large variety. - The taste of the tap water is great! Cons: - If you're coming by car. It can be hell if you have lots of luggage and if you have children or elderly as individual cars cannot enter the area where the main entrance is. You would have to park either in the limited parking space before the hotel (paid parking with a max of 3 hours) or park at a 15-minute parking lot a few meters away from the entrance. In such a case, you'd have to go all the way to the hotel to grab the luggage cart and then push it all the way back. Then walk again to move your car to the parking lot that's even further by another few meters. - The overnight parking lot is paid (250 NOK per day). So, no free parking. - If you have a "city view" room (i.e., on the rear side of the hotel), be prepared to hear the cargo and commercial trains which run immediately under the room. Cargo trains can run a bit after midnight. - Reception is on the second floor, so you'd have to take your luggage one floor up to check in. - Lastly, the hotel is expensive given all these critiques.
