Holbox Dream Beach Front Hotel

Great staff, hotel very comfortable. Just know that if you have kids there’s no tv in room… which is not a big deal in a place like that. The only thing I wish was different was the pool hours they close the pool at 6:30 pm, I wish was later. Also.. if you have kids the business next door gets very loud at night. The hotel is very kind and provides ear plugs but is good to know in case you have a kid sensitive to noise.

Hotel was perfectly situated on the beach and only a couple of minutes walk from the main strip, with bars and restaurants galore. Staff we encountered were all excellent. We ate breakfast at the hotel which was delicious each day. Loved watching the racoon family on their patrol at night. In room storage space could have been slightly better, but you don't need that many clothes as Holbox is the perfect barefoot location.

Too many uncontrolled children between 5 and 10 having fun, screaming, running around, bumping into us, disturbing conversations. The chef's dishes were not enticing or interesting. We only ate at the hotel twice over our 2 week stay. Breakfast buffet was descent though.

Our experience of the hotel has been mainly unpleasant. Our room was on ground level and opening on the swimming pool where children were playing all day so it wasn't really calm. The smell in the room was very unpleasant due to the fact that the window of the bathroom was opening on a space between buildings where we had a sewer smell. On the second day of our six day trip, money has been stolen in our bag in the room which stayed locked except for cleaning. We reported it the personnel who lightly care about it. The only very good point of the hotel was the effort made on the breakfast. To be transparent the experience of the hotel is also the experience of the island. To much tourism, very high prices, seaweed problem and a population who probably don't benefit equaly from the tourism create a mixed feeling experience. If you travel there be aware that whatever the season you'll have seaweed and the smell can be very unpleasant in some places.

If you book this place make sure you are not booked in room 306 or anything that borders with the bar behind the hotel. It caught our attention when we arrived in the room that there were ear plugs and a sign saying that there may be music until midnight. There was some light music at the beach and would have never imagined that by 9pm we would have a whole band basically playing in our room. We were traveling with 2 small children and went to reception to complain and all they could do is apologize and tell us that we can speak to a manager tomorrow. The manager Augusto talked down to us rudely and just told us that the music was just until midnight and that it’s not their responsibility we should complain to Expedia. And kept Insisting that this never happened before even though a second guest made the same complain when I was there.
