Casa del Mar Cozumel Hotel & Dive Resort

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place to anyone. They are in the middle of construction of their new 4th floor. We were staying on the 3rd floor and all I heard was hammers banging and tools dropping for 3 straight days. They start work at 8 am!!! and stop at 6 pm. I was looking forward to a relaxing family vacation and it turned into a total nightmare. Book at your own risk. That’s all I have to say.

Loved how close it was to the dive shop and boats. The Staff treat you like family and the rooms and views so relaxing. I would have liked a coffee/tea pot in the room so I could sit on the balcony watch the sun rise with my first cup of coffee in my hand. Breakfast was always a rush as the dive shops wanted us to be there at 7:30 or 7:45 and breakfast starts at 7am. I wish it would open up at 6:30.

This is one of Cozumel’s best kept secret. The rooms are all newly upgraded. Smart TVs, Internet works great. Staff is wonderful. Very very very clean. Cute little beach area over the bridge. Great prices for food. Breakfast buffet with an omelette station, $7.50 includes coffee tea or juice and milk. Safe area for parking. Walking distance to plenty of places. Slept like a baby. Beds are super super comfortable.

I had a disappointing stay at Casa del Mar on my last visit. I have been staying at this “resort” yearly for nearly twenty years. I am an avid scuba diver and in the past, all divers were given a warm welcome and treated like family. It didn’t matter if you were with a large group, solo or with a small group of friends. It also didn’t matter what dive op you were diving with. Now things are much different. We were not part of a larger group and were diving with an off-site operator and were treated like second class citizens. We were lied to about room availability, restaurant staff watched us like hawks; I’m guessing because they thought we were giving away food/beverages to friends that had joined us for dinner which was never the case. Although our hotel stay was paid for in advance, midway through our vacation, it was decided that the treatment was unbearable and we decided to move to another hotel. The evening we left, we were chased down by hotel staff demanding that we give them our keys and telling us that we would not be allowed to leave. We refused and told them we would return in the morning to check out which we did and were provided no refund or credit for the remaining three days. At this point it didn’t matter, the damage was done and I can say with certainty I will never stay at or recommend friends or family stay at this hotel as long as it is under the current management. This is such a shame as there are wonderful people who work at Casa del Mar.

Very convenient location for the activities i had scheduled. Very classy, and clean. Wonderful staff. They accommodated me and my family very well. The Ceiba suite is the best!!!
