Hotel Portonovo Plaza Malecón

Beds are great, really comfortable. Breakfast was good and a good variety. The service staff were excellent. We had some confusion at check-in and our room wasn't ready on time, they said 10 minutes so we stood in the lobby with our children for 15 minutes and then they said another hour, which was a little frustrating after a long flight. Overall would absolutely stay there again!

READ! We stayed at Portonovo four nights. We got three rooms. On the second night, one of the families had to request a different room because they got bit badly by bed bugs. The breakfast was not great. We would go eat at the restaurant on the corner, that was good! The rooms keys would get deactivated almost daily. One night one of the rooms was not locked, they could open it without the key. The family complained and staff blamed housekeeping and got told not worry “nobody steals here”, but they did. The day we checked out, as we were packing our stuff, the same family noticed they were missing a few items from their belongings (a towel, a shirt, and some money). Another family was also missing a shirt and money. These were different rooms, the only ones with access are hotel staff and housekeeping. When we arrived everyone wanted to use the pool. Well, the pool was green and full of slime. We didn’t get to use the pool at all because then they closed it for maintenance. My advice, DON’T STAY here. I’m sure there are better hotels that are also affordable. The reason we stayed here was because we booked it three weeks before the trip and there were not many options left. The only good thing was the area, it is close to the malecón, local stores, and food.

Loved this place...perfect for one person....maybe two. Not a family room by any means but perfectly suited to a travelers who want to be in the middle of it all! Very, very clean... safe even for a lone soul....and very updated facilities. The pool is small but perfect for a morning dip. Breakfast was OK...just OK. The staff are helpful and very friendly....will be back for sure!!
