California Comfort and Suites

Property was split into 2 locations but only less than a minute walk apart. My extended family had booked the royal suite, a 2 room suite and then a room with 2 queen beds. Each room met all expectations and the service and support staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. We did wish the pool hours went later than 10pm but it’s all good.

The property was very well kept, pool was clean,and the staff was bilingual. Accepted dollars and pesos. Staff very helpful with all my questions and concerns throughout my entire stay. My spouses family lives in the city so we ended up getting three rooms all together. The royal suite, a double room, and then a jr. suite.

Considering that the price is just like US hotels, it has poor amenities and facilities; no iron, iron board, microwave, blower. We were placed in their Section 2 place which is not attached to their main bldg. It was inconvenient to walk under the scorching heat of the sun with our two kids and luggage. Upon check in you will be given 3 remote controls-2 for the TV and 1 for the AC. The TV only has one channel with the cable control hanging on top. The room is also is completely different from the photo. No couch inside. You only get 2 pillows per bed. Their closet is completely not usable as it’s covered with dust inside.

It was filthy. Room was full of bees & ants. Our first room was down a block & the locks didn't work & the toilet wouldn't flush. They claimed we asked for a disabled room when we did not. The night manager was very rude & argumentative - his voice while arguing was very close to yelling. He said Expedia said we chose the disabled room and he couldn't move us because people go onto Expedia website & complain about being moved. He said the photo Expedia showed us is their penthouse suite - only a stock photo. He said talk to the manager in the morning. The day manager was accommodating & moved us to better room the next day but we had to argue & we only got that because a woman was checking out. We called a week ahead of our reservation and asked about a hair dryer for the room and were told we could ask for one at the desk but when checking in was told he would get one in the morning- which he didn't.. it took talking to the manager for them to call a housekeeper & get one (they do not sell hair dryers in any store in Los Algodones-we checked). This place is a dump, it is like crack house motel 6 on steroids. They do have a bar but it takes an hour to get a drink & that drink isn't much more than water. Went to the restaurant & bar a street over at the Mediplaza by Sani Dental & had better food & drinks ($5 for a very large, great tasting Margarita & large platefuls of food for under $5). They don't pick you up-sent a kid to walk us. Avoid California Comfort at all costs.

If you are planning a trip to Los Algodones, this is the place you want to stay. Nice, spacy room, large comfortable bed, jacuzzi bath and very quiet, safe area. Walking distance to an awesome little ice cream shop that also serves outstanding pizza. The hotel has a restaurant with wonderful food and a coffee shop that serves great donuts. We payed only $65 a night and it was worth way more. We hated leaving and will miss the California comfort family.
