Grand Hotel Gozo

We had a beautiful room on the top floor with full view of the harbour and sea. A special mention for our room cleaner Ramesh who was fantastic and always so friendly. Would recommend hiring a car if staying here so you can get about as not that much going on in the area. Gozo is beautiful and so much to see There was issues with some rowdy behaviour from a group of guests but they left after two days to go home, personally I think they should have removed them as it was disgusting constant drunken behaviour and very noisy. Many guests ended up leaving because of this. The car park is handy but a hazard getting in and out of it, very steep and tight. I stayed with my 12 year old son we had a great time but not many other kids around here, that may suit some better however.

Very nice family hotel friendly welcoming staff rooms clean and comfortable location with a harbour and sea view

We stayed in a hotel for a week in July/August with our 23 month old toddler. On arrival we were greeted with orange juice which was a lovely treat after short walk from the ferry. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed a beautiful view from a balcony. Staff, especially from the restaurant was very professional and friendly. Food was delicious and we loved BBQ nights on roof terrace. The pool area was nice and clean. Buggy users- be aware that in many places in Gozo and definitely in Mgarr there is not much room for buggies on the pavements which are very narrow or have cars parked there. We often had to walk on the street with our stroller as there was no space to walk on the pavement. Also, we would not allow our son to run freely near the harbour as it was too dangerous because of location of the street. Good connection to Ramla Bay (15 minutes by bus) and Victoria from Mgarr.

We enjoyed 4 nights in this hotel. On checking in we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a junior suite which gave us a really big room with double balcony and a sofa and dining area. We had great views looking out to the harbour and the coming and going of all sorts of boats. The hotel lives up to it's name of 'Grand' with marble in abundance, however it is more of a traditional style rather than contemporary. The pool on the 4th floor was a lovely way to cool off but there was a bit of a shortage of sunbeds with shade - much needed in the 36 degree heat. Gozo is quieter and greener than Malta and a slower pace altogether. Car hire is a good way to see round the island, although buses are also available.
