ICI HOTEL Ueno Shin Okachimachi

Travelling by myself in my late 40’s after all my kids are adults. The room was small but that is Tokyo for you, the cost was perfect and it was in a great spot to,launch all my day time activities. Trains every where. I did not look for buses. It was also very close to get the Narita express with a quick connection train. So close to great food and cold cold Japanese beer. If I took my wife I might chose a different room.

We definitely would not stay here again and would not recommend friends and family do either. Mostly because one of the front desk staff was extremely rude. We asked for extra blankets and was told they don't have it. We asked for towels and they were very irritated. That person said you don't like our hotel don't here again. For some reason, you can hear the train tracks, but I don't see the drain nearby unless it's coming from the subway. I'm not sure. The room was a good size, but that really doesn't matter when one of the staff treats you horribly it makes the entire hotel seem bad. On a positive note, a Chinese housekeeping lady was very kind. That felt nice. If we had a choice, we would have asked for a refund based on our overall experience, but just let it go.
