Wat Hotel& Spa Hida Takayama

Nice quiet hotel with comfortable beds. Our 1st room smelt a bit musty near the sink so they agreed to move us to a different room, much appreciated. The hotel has a good buffet breakfast with western and Asian choices. We didn’t try the onsen as it was closed for maintenance, there were family private ones available but too long a wait. Location is a bit far from the old town but is walkable, about 20 minutes. Morning market beside the river is worth visit.

Very nice hotel with spacious room. Seems to have nice spa even though we didn’t use it. Very cute welcome bags for my children and they loved it. Location is slightly away from the town centre so has limited restaurants around. However close enough to all the convenient stores.

On our first trip to Japan, we were not sure what to expect, but Wat Hotel was an incredible experience. We came to the exceptionally clean and classy establishment and greeted by the jovial staff member Riko M. Despite how busy it was, she made sure we were well taken care of and made navigating the system easy especially with her great English skills. She had no trouble making us feel welcome in an unfamiliar area. The breakfast had a wide variety and even had several staff members keeping everything in order to make it a smooth dining experience. We would easily visit again during our next stay in Takayama and also recommend Wat Hotel to friends and family.

This is very good hotel! The room is spaces and clean. I love the breakfast! The only drawback maybe is the distance to those tourist spot. However, for my family, this is not a big deal as we love Takayama and like to explore with slow walk from Hotel to old town.

Nice Onsen , especially the private family Onsen. The breakfast was superb, best to take the breakfast as most of the cafes only open at 11am

Our family of 5 enjoyed super comfy Queen and Triple Rooms during a fabulous 3-night vacation at Wat Hotel & Spa in Takayama! The entirety of our experience...from check-in hospitality to helpful service throughout our stay, from property (NEW) condition to room cleanliness, from rooftop lounge area to shared and private bathing areas, from superior Japanese and Western breakfast buffet to little "extras" and attention to detail...was all way above average! While other properties are looking for ways to cut corners, this one is making constant improvements, earning them their high ranking and making it our 'go-to' choice in this region! We highly recommend this hotel for business trips and individual, couple & family getaways, and will absolutely return the next chance we get!

Had a great 2-night stay at this beautiful hotel. Convenient location and room was spacious and awesome. The complimentary green tea at the lobby for guests was a nice touch! Room - very spacious by Japan standards, new and modern. Complimentary mineral water was included as well. Onsen - Lovely indoor and outdoor public onsen, and also has an option to choose private bath (for families). Breakfast - We booked hotel with brekkie and it was the wisest decision. Great spread, mostly Japanese but also has some Western options. Can fill your tummy for the day out :) Service - Generally friendly and good. Thumbs Up and strongly recommend!

Tip Top cleanliness for a new hotel. Family enjoyed the breakfast for 3 days. Onsen facilities are wonderful, appreciate the family/ private onsen rooms and free ice cream after onsen!
