Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa

We had a family emergency and had to leave our Vaction early. I tried to contract both Expedia and the hotel several times with no reply back. I will never use Expedia again.

A good central location from which to explore Palermo whilst not troubled by street noise. Grandiose, attractive internal piazza. Decent size room, comfortable. Less positively; room poorly equipped: No hair conditioner No body lotion No glasses or mugs (only paper and plastic cups Tea/coffee amenities not replenished on a daily basis. Restaurant/bar service - indifferent, surly, unresponsive (had to request hot water for tea 3 times before it finally arrived. The barman refused to provide glasses for the room, although the reception staff were able to facilitate this). In the restaurant it felt like there was an air of hostility between the senior and junior staff. The selection of food at breakfast was standard/ordinary, with some items unavailable … no vegetables for vegetarian omelette! … 1 small sliver of smoked salmon appeared on our 3rd day! Overall a disappointing experience given the price and Rich Steins endorsement. Come to Palermo, it’s fab, but stay somewhere else!
