We stayed at the I Portici Hotel in August 2024 and had a wonderful experience. We stayed in a superior room (116) and the room was lovely and had all the amenities required including a large bed. The staff are excellent and helpful with the restaurant and bar team being absolutely amazing, very accommodating and friendly. The food is excellent and all cooked fresh, (Michelin Rosette 2024) but is similar in price to many other restaurants in the location. The hotel is around 5 mins from the main train station and 8/9 minute walk to the centre of town. We have had four very relaxing nights here and we would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to friends and family who were thinking of visiting Bologna.

We booked a suite for our family and loved it. It was modern and clean and had a balcony. The amenities were top-notch and so was the service. The breakfast was the best we’ve had in multiple trips to Europe. We would definitely book this again on a return trip to Bologna.

By far the most unique “family room” we’ve stayed in but it was great. We were a family of 4 with 2 little children and each had their own bed in this 5th floor (room 580) open space room. The elevator is tiny, the stairs are plenty but the room was great. It gave us appropriate space for our family and a huge bathroom for bath for the girls and showers for us! The hotel staff was very accommodating. The pizzeria on the 2nd floor was delightful abd the hotel recommendation for great dining was on poin (Osteria 051) We would define stay here again The only downfall was we walked to the Piazza everyday and it’s a good 12 minute walk

I Portici Hotel is stationed well close to the main train station and near the old city centre. It was nice that we had a free welcome drink (glass of wine on the terrace) but the ambience was not so special as there was a child fashion show or something going on. The hotel was in overall good condition and relatively modern on the inside. The room was very small and the air conditioner was very weak / not working. Every time you returned back to the room the TV would turn on automatically, which is a bit annoying. For a four and half star hotel I would have expected some complimentary moisturiser or a turn down service. I was also charged 25€ for parking even though I did not have a car. At no point during my stay was this charge ever mentioned by anyone. I only found out via my credit card bill. I have been awaiting a refund for a few days now!

The staff were welcoming, friendly, capable and available. The hotel was pristine throughout. Breakfast was fabulous- fresh ricotta was a favorite. Rooms are compact but perfectly attended and efficient. They were also quiet, despite the hotel location in a busy urban setting. This was the unanimous favorite hotel among my family over a three week Italy tour.
