Grand Hotel Ambasciatori

A great place for families. Hotel has everything.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori for a short break to celebrate my 50th birthday and absolutely loved it! We'd opted for a Premier room (really, a junior suite) which was more or less built into the cliff-face and looked out over the bay directly towards Naples and Vesuvius, a view that was absolutely stunning. We believe that the hotel has recently been refurbished as everything was absolutely pristine: the attention to detail was really apparent. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, all making for a wonderful stay. Sorrento itself is colourful, with so many good places to eat and shop. As we were only there for a few days, we'd decided to go all action and had therefore booked up excursions to Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum. These departed from the local bus station, an easy 5 minute walk from the hotel, and were all fascinating in their different ways. Please be advised however that the walk up to the summit of Vesuvius's crater is very steep, something about which we were not really warned (although achieving the top did create a real sense of accomplishment!).
