Grand Hotel Due Golfi

We chose this hotel because of its small size, approx 60 rooms.And its location, of being on top of a hill overlooking Sorrento and easy access to the Amalfi coast. Driving time into Sorrento was about 15 minutes. Driving time to Amalfi was about 40 minutes. The hotel offers a free bus shuttle to and from Sorrento, which you have to pre book. Had a 2 week stay there and neither me or my wife could fault the place. Only minor gripe and i mean minor was that sometimes it was dificult to find someone when you wanted a drink by the pool. As i say, a minor gripe. We stayed on a B and B basis because we enjoy eating out. They offered a half board deal on booking in of 20 Euros a day per person which we declined. We did eat there 3 times during our stay and the food was good. Breakfast was as you expect, with scrambled eggs and bacon and mini sausages on offer with all the normal contnental breakfast fare. We have to agree with previous reviews and if staying here try and get a sea view room. We never tired of looking out over the bay of Sorrento towards Vesuvius in the distance. The Village of Sant Agata is about a 5 minute walk, but the first minute of the walk involves negotiating a hazardous road with no pavement. So beware. St Agate has plenty of eateries of differing standards and prices. Wouldnt recommend this hotel if you are a family, not much for youngsters to do and too quiet for teenagers.

My girlfriend and I booked this room after reading the tripadvisor reviews, and we were not wrong. We mainly chose this hotel becauase of the secure free parking and free wifi/internet. However we were extremely impressed with the hotel staff (particularly Ornella and Amelia in reception), service and cleanliness of the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were concerned when we were not on the assigned hotel bus at a certain time, making sure we were ok. The thing that impressed us most, was that on the last night we had a very early flight- being vegetarian, they hand packed a 'take away' breakfast bag, including individually wrapped cheese- ready for us with a smile at 4am!-my girlfriend was very impressed as we have not experienced such attention to detail, especially in a four star hotel, where we were one of many guests. Do not hesitate to choose this hotel- even if you are in Sorrento without a car, as the hotel has a free transport bus to Sorrento throughout the day, and is ideally placed in front of the local Sita bus stop #to Sorrento and to Almafi coast# If we return to Sorrento again, we will defintely be staying at the hotel du Golfi, and definitely recommeding this hotel to our friends and family.
