The Galmont

We stayed at the Galmont during the Christmas season. Our family enjoyed our stay and the warmth of the staff. The food and entertainment was excellent!!! We would definitely stay at the Galmont again.

For whatever reason, they couldn't get hot water for our room which is quite ridiculous for a 4 star hotel. Hotel engineering made a change and it was lukewarm at best. Despite this, they told the front desk that it was better than before and that it was fixed. This was their response after their 3rd attempt on our 2nd day. We call again in the morning and front desk says engineering said they fixed it so we seem like the annoying customer. The next day (last day there) we had to ask to go to another room to get access to hot water for cleaning baby bottles and showering. The other room's water temperature was phenomenal and a night and day difference from the room we were staying in. I offered to take the front desk/manager to the rooms and show the water temperature difference but they didnt care to. No compensation offered either for any of the hassle, even with a baby. I was recommended this hotel and several friends of mine are waiting to book once we're back. Definitely not worth the trouble to book this hotel.

Couldn’t ask I more, nice breakfast and friendly helpful staff. Great location, easy walk to centre of town. Parking on site and spa is great, even for a toddler.

My husband and I stayed here for a night and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's a really lovely hotel with lovely views of Lough Atalia and is only 5 mins walk from Eyre Square. The lobby and bar is a really lovely bright area with lots of nice decor. Our room was nice, the bed was huge and would sleep a couple of small kids. The tv was big but unfortunately it was not tuned in properly. Breakfast the following morning was brilliant with all you could eat hot and cold buffet. The food was tasty, I always think the scrambled egg is the test and it passed. The porridge was lovely too. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful in the reception, bar and restaurant. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel :)

Quality of room was appalling, no air con for the kids, beds not split to create twin

Reception staff were very welcoming, plenty of car prking spaces, good walkable location from the city centre. Breakfast was really good, and we loved the pool which 1 out of the 2 days we used it was really quiet. Nice to have a lane blocked off even though one silly woman decised to ignore it was a lane being. used and just did her own thing along with her older child. Would have been nice if staff could have pointed that out to her as my teenage son didnt feel he could. Our room was really nice, good size, comfy chair, ice available, and quiet carpets so we didnt hear people wandering back to rooms. There was some first night music playing late we could hear - not sure if that was from the bar or elsewhere. We didnt hear any the second night. Really nice stay, we'd go again.
