Hotel Am Schloss

Our family had a great stay at the Hotel am Schloss. The 2 queen bedrooms opened onto a private balcony that had an incredible view over all of Heidelberg. It was perfect and we enjoyed wine and cheese on the patio one lovely evening. The room was clean and roomy which was what we were looking for. Although it was dated and needed some maintenance it didn't bother us. The location is perfect for walking everywhere and felt very safe and comfortable. The only disappointing part was the breakfast. We gave a time for breakfast of 9 am the day before and when we came down at 9 there were no tables available. We were told to come back in 15-30 mins and came back at 9:30 and still had to wait. The breakfast area is too small and cannot accommodate all the guests. I am sure this is hard for a hotel to plan but maybe some warning that sometimes there is a wait and then we probably would have taken an earlier time.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed, this hotel and its staff exceeded my expectations in every way. When I checked in late at night I had a small cough, and Demi the night clerk fixed me a hot tea within 10 minutes. The free Wi-Fi was strong in room 18. The breakfast was varied and fresh every morning, and I had a hot pot of coffee on my table within 120 seconds of my arrival every morning. And the view of the Heidelberg Castle is a million dollar View. So yeah I was very happy. I will select it again. Mine was a single room, but Hotel staff showed me the family apartment and I might pick that next time I come.

I have stayed in this hotel many times in the past 17 years, the location to the Old Town of Heidelberg is great, views of the Castle from certain rooms is breath taking. The staff is extremely friendly and makes you feel like family.
