Boscolo Nice Hôtel & Spa

The experience at The Boscolo was excellent. When we checked in it was late at night. The staff was super friendly and warm. After a few days it’s like we were a family. The rooms are clean, comfortable and airy. The breakfast and the staff are so warm, especially Alessandria and Muhammad. Elizabetta and her Staff are so excellent in providing site seeing tips and restaurants. Overall, I would The Boscolo 5/5 and return for future stay. They made our stay in Nice remarkable.

I wanted to say a lot of great things, but the horrible food poisoning I got at breakfast and how it was handled had to take prevalence. After breakfast (smoked salmon and eggs) I immediately had food poisoning and spent the next 18 hours in agony and dehydration. It‘s one thing to say „it‘s not us, it‘s some virus“ (my family had nothing and I was ok a few days later - I have had food poisoning a few times in my life and know how that feels) - but even if they honestly believed that, the minimum any five star hotel would do is get you water, bland food to recover and medication to deal with it from the pharmacy next door. What a five star hotel shouldn‘t do, is flat out deny that it was their food, then charge you for not only the breakfast but say that if I need water I can order bottles from the bar. More minor things that I typically don‘t expect from this level of hotel is wifi that doesn‘t work and a dirty gym with equipment all over the floor and 7 foot ceilings, but it was a mute point since working was out of the question. As I said, there are nice elements for this hotel (nice, albeit small, rooftop, a lovely host upstairs with great barista skills, and a pretty lobby), but how this food poisoning was handled, sadly, was less than subpar.

Our stay was disappointing and I am surprised this is considered a 5 star hotel. The person who checked us in was rude and kept interrupting us. The “pool” is tiny, as in a small plunge pool with a few beds crammed around it. Also, the hotel does not cater to children: there is no kids menu or even food options for them. When I asked for some food options from room service for my child, they said there were none and refused to offer any solutions. The wait staff at breakfast would also roll their eyes or audibly sign and heave every time we asked for something, like they were doing us a favor, how absurd. The pancakes they serve at breakfast are not made in the kitchen, they are store bought (I asked a waitress when I suspected this about the stale pancakes and she confirmed it). The only bright spots of our stay were that the hotel is clean and pretty. There is also one person in Guest Relations who was fabulous: Marija. She was exceptional and helped rectify many of the mistakes other staffers made. If it weren’t for her, I don’t know what we would have done. I do not recommend this hotel.
