Hotel Tivoli

Property is old . Vintage. The stairs are uneven and squeaky. The rooms are small quite tight. The rooms walls showed age. The floor was quite scuffed up. The lobby is extremely dated. Furniture is also old and blanched due to time. The bathroom was clean but dated. The staff were very nice. They did the best that they could. The air-conditioning was turned off mid stay because they said it was now Autumn despite very warm rooms at night and without notice. No coffee or tea in the rooms. No fridge. Considering the cost per night I would not call this value for money. Internet pictures are deceptive. The location is on a side street but it felt quite safe. The signage is poor. The hallways are dark. Positives really have to be the great staff each member I met was really helpful and respectful. There is a room safe that was extremely handy. The location is great. Very close to the Metro lines and the Arc de Triumph. For a tourist this fits the location location location adage. There is a great family owned Chinese restaurant beside it-excellent cuisine. I just wish that the hotel were better maintained and updated.

We really had a good time at the Tivoli Etoile. I'd read all the reviews and had briefed the family to expect very small rooms, being so central. They were small but they were good. Everything worked. The aircon was quiet and really effective. The beds were very comfortable. The service was excellent - just as cheerful and attentive as you'd expect from a well-priced boutique hotel. Just before arriving, we read a rather negative review from someone who had had a problem with security, but we couldn't see any issue with security. The rooms all had safes, the keys seemed to be well attended by the reception staff and when we left our luggage on our last day it was all kept very securely. The best thing about the hotel, though (apart from the giraffe picture, which I personally like a lot) is the outstanding location. Just a stone's throw from Etoile metro, which gets you anywhere, very quickly. Really, this was a good choice and I'd recommend it, and be happy to stay there again.
