Buena Vista del Rincon offered a stunning escape nestled amongst the mountains. The highlight, without a doubt, was the incredible thermal pools. Taking a dip in the natural hot springs at the base of the volcano was pure bliss. The rooms themselves were spotless and comfortable. Keep in mind that the rooms don't have air conditioning, only ceiling fans; for March it was OK for my family. For the adventurous traveler, Buena Vista del Rincon offered a decent selection of activities. Definitely if you're a foreigner, try the cultural tour. The nature trails were well-maintained, and the horseback riding was a great way to explore the surrounding area. We also enjoyed tubing down the long slide, a refreshing way to spend a hot afternoon. However, there were a few areas where Buena Vista del Rincon could improve. The breakfast buffet, while adequate, was fairly standard and lacked any real wow factor. The trek down to the thermal pools, though scenic in its own right, was quite dusty and could be inconvenient because, according to the hotel, the only way to get to the pools is by tractor-drawn open carriage and by reservation only. Additionally, while the ecoadventure options were enjoyable, they weren't quite as extensive or unique compared to what other hotels. Overall, Buena Vista del Rincon is a nice place to reconnect with nature. However, if you're looking for truly exceptional ecoadventures and better meals, you might want to consider exploring other options in the area

The journey to get to the hotel is difficult. It is a great adventure for one or two day stay, but not for longer than that if you are traveling with children. My six year old son enjoyed the hanging bridges and the thermal waters, but we did this on the first two days, then we did not have much to do. I believe they should have more kids activities since there were many children in the hotel. The pool's water was very cold, so we went once and that was it. The food is okay, but we did not enjoy a buffet for six days. We all got sick on the last day and had to leave in a hurry, we want to thank the security guard and Ricardo from maintenance. They were the only two people to seemed to know what to do in case of an emergency. In the front desk, they need a little more training. Since, we left in a hurry, I closed my account a day before and Brian was supposed to email me my receipt. Its almost two weeks and I have not heard from him. I admire their passion for protecting the environment and using their natural resources, this is something to learn from.

A friend and I decided to go to Costa Rica with our four children ages 16, 15, 13 and 11. We chose this remote location to get a real "adventure" feel and boy did we get one. Imagine having no TV's or internet for 4 days! Our first night was a bit of a shock since there is no night life or activities to do there at night but by the next day we realized why. We did the MegaCombo tour. It was amazing! By the end of the day we were ready for dinner and sleep. No wonder night life isn't necessary. Beware that this is located in the mountains which means that at night there are bugs everywhere. Going anywhere else is at least an hour drive but its worth it. We were scared at first but by the end of our stay we laughed at it. In the end we got what we wanted - a trip full of adventure, away from every day chaos, surrounded by nature and bonding time with the kids. The food was delicious and healthy since most is grown right in the farm. The only thing is that the place could use more lighting since it gets dark at about 5:30. I love the place but would probably only go back for a 2-3 night stay instead of a 4 night stay.
