PortoBay Rio de Janeiro

My family spent four nights at the property and had a wonderful time. The hotel couldn't be better situated facing the beach, within walking distance to restaurants all up and down the "strip". The staff was very nice and helpful and set up drivers for us when needed. They have a plunge pool and full bar and restaurant located on the roof where we spent a lot of time, as well as an excellent breakfast buffet every morning. Also, a gym overlooking the pool and beach. The building seems to have been built in the 50s or 60s and has a great MCM decor. Our suites (1501 and 1601) looked cool with updated bathrooms, not to mention the balconies overlooking the beach. The hallways were dark and worn but other than that, everything was great! We would stay there again.

Where can I start with this review! What a great experience. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and go out of their way to accommodate your needs at this modern hotel on copacabana beach front. I arrived early, and there was a room available so they checked me in early which was lovely. The room was clean, modern and stylish without being unwelcoming. A nice sized balcony, with a partial ocean view. The rooftop is fabulous with fantastic views, you can even see Christ the redeemer from the back of the rooftop ( you many have to squint a little though) . Absolutely definitely book the breakfast, it’s held in this fabulous dining area with panoramic views of the Copacabana beach front. I didn’t use the spa facilities, but the shower in the room and rooftop pool were lovely. If you’re looking for a chilled stay, with good food, great caipirinhas and dedicated 24hr staff, look no further ! Special shoutout to Sacha, Tami, and Gustavo who were able to cater to my every request for information, service and advice. I stayed as a solo, and felt perfectly safe, but saw couples, groups of girls and a family with a small baby there. It’s easy to get an Uber to and from. Lots of restaurants near by, try bistro leme or the ipanema area. Also, you can walk left out of the hotel down to leme beach which is a little quieter with a great view of the mountains
