It was a beautiful experience and a great opportunity for my family to dine out and spend the night out. Check-in was the most painful experience as it took a very long time and I had my family waiting to be picked up. On Check-out I expressed my dissatisfaction with the check-in process. While another saff was apologing, the man who checked me in promptly told me that, although it took long to check me in, that he was actually fast. I am over 40years old and in my years I've had more than 50 hotel checkins including at wrest point previously, so I was shocked he said he was quick. Anyway, that was my ordeal. So, a beautiful place but prepare yourself for a possibly lengthy check in time and if it goes quick, be thankful.

It was a Sat afternoon and there were just 2 people checking guests in. There was quite a wait but Sam was very helpful. We stayed at a Double Deluxe Room with harbour view for four nights. The room was spacious and comfortable and the view magnificent. There was, however, a fold-up bed that took up some room and had to be removed. We only had a total of two pillows. Our request for two extra pillows were promptly entertained. I did find the mattress a bit wonky but my husband didn’t have any issues. The sound-proofing and block-out curtains worked like a charm. Amenities were a disappointment though; one day we didn’t get any shampoo, another day we didn’t get something else. Since we could get by, we didn’t bother asking for a replenishment. We were surprised that there weren’t any combs or toothpaste when there were slippers and bath robes. On the whole, it was a pleasant stay and value for money. We have recommended Wrest Point to our friends and family and would stay there again if we visit Hobart again.

We were very happy with everything about our accommodation apart from the extremely loud lady and her child from two doors down that had no consideration for other guest especially at 12 - 1am in the morning as they were yelling and running up and down the hall knocking on different peoples doors.

I stayed here a number of times in the 90s (before kids) and loved it, so thought now the kids are grown we would revisit. Sadly that was a mistake. No one greats guests anymore, you are left to deal with bags yourself. Service is almost non existent from hotel staff. The shining light of the suite was the bath room. The low mark was for the bed that must have been at least 20 years old. Sagged on the sides and a huge hump in the middle. Got bitten by bed bugs. Requested a room change but was told none available. Almost all restaurants are closed and the buffet serves the same over priced food every night (not even a rotating menu). We ended up leaving and going to Hogs Breath for dinner. Some things improve with age, well if this hotel was a bottle of wine it has turned to vinegar. Back in the 90s this was 4.5 star now it would struggle to get 1.5 star. Do not waist your money, book somewhere else.

There was renovations going on that we were unaware of. When trying to find the reception the sign posts were all over the place. The lifts were small and there were only 2. The signs saying 4 only or families, groups together can be in there. Yet at times more people would fill the lifts cause of the inconvenience of waiting, and no staff were around to stop the overcrowding.

The staff at Wrest Point are all amazing, friendly, and attentive to your needs. We stayed in a brand new renovated room and wow were we blown away. Everything was spot on and modern. Travelling with a baby is always stressful. However the rooms let in little to no sound which relieved our stress. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
