Portobello By The Sea

Rooms were clean and nice comfortable. Pool was beautiful and well maintained. I ended up under a family which their kids were banging and stomping.

The location was the best part of our stay, a few minutes walk from the beach and directly below the property was an IGA and coffee shop and takeaways etc that were very convenient. the undercover secure car parking was great. The amenities and essentials inside the apartment were sufficient for what we needed for our stay for example the fully equipped kitchen, washer, dryer, aircon and fans. The tvs had lots of Chanel’s to choose from. We booked two apartments and requested they be next to eachother and they did just that which was great. What let this property down was how outdated it was and the condition it was in. The bathrooms especially. Mould all in the seals, cracked tiles and that made it feel unclean. The beds were relatively comfortable but there was no quilt on them just a thin sheet on the top. We later found some thick mink blankets in the closet but they were too hot to use when it was 26 degrees overnight. The property is not pram or disability friendly. There is an elevator from the carpark up to each level but then you still have to walk up stairs to your apartment. We had to walk up around 15 stairs with a toddler and young children which was less than ideal. We booked for the max guests per room but there weren’t enough towels or bedding provided for each guest. We later discovered the main couch was a pullout sofa but it was jammed and had a padlock on it so couldn’t be used. For the price we paid to stay here, I was a bit disappointed.

We loved how clean the rooms where. We had a 2 bedroom unit, close to the pool which the kids loved. So many options to choose from for dinners/lunches/coffee right outside. IGA store next door, beach and skatepark over the road. Safe locked up guest parking. Loved it here, will definitely stay again at Portobello.

Fantastic location, beautiful pool area and great sized apartment for our family. We could walk everywhere and there were great restaurants within 50 metres of our room.

Located directly opposite the beach made life so easy. We enjoyed walking all the way to Shelly beach enjoying some drinks and snacks along the way. Would recommend this place for a lovely family holiday.

Location is good for beach, cafe, walks, surf club, skate park. Portobello Staff were friendly & helpful. Pool area was really great. Apartment wasn’t very clean & was definitely outdated. We were right on the road side & on a corner & the road noise was so loud. Didn’t love taking all our gear up & down 3 flights of stairs. Young guys partied really loud at bar downstairs til 10.30pm and woke up my little ones.

Great locations, quiet area and the apartment we stayed in was lovely and spacious for our families stay. Will stay here again next time we visit the Sunshine Coast.

Paid for a 1 bedroom apartment, was given a studio apartment with a moving divider wall. Water shut off from burst pipe and water would not be restored until (lunch time) following day. I needed to contact them several times to find out why the water was off and when it would be restored. Instead of offering a solution such as "we have bottled water here availble for your use in the reception room" You insisted on trying to explain to me how the water pipe burst. I don't need an explanation as this has already been explained every time I called to ask when our water would be turned on. The water was off from 9pm until 10am the next day and we needed to checkout by 10am. So we were without water the whole time in our apartment.. with a baby (I mention this because you probably dont realise how many baby bottles/containers/pacifiers etc I needed to wash or how i needed to bath my baby). I already told your receptionists and manager that I understand this was out of your control and not yoyr fault. But you had given me nothing besides a "oh well.. not our problem sorry". When asked if I could get compensation considering this was a basic amenity which was included in the COST of the room. You had told me would need to write to the city council. Poor customer service and zero empathy. Old and dirty cushions on couch, one with zipper completely broken off and stuffing coming out. Not very sanitary considering we have a teething toddler.
