Macleay Hotel

Beautiful accomodating hotel in a beautiful area that is located within walking distance of train & bus service as well as tourist attractions. The staff were lovely and helpful, the rooftop view incredible and nothing we asked too much trouble. Would def stay with my family again if ever we came back to Sydney.

Best hotel to stay with the family. Especially with the kitchen. Staff is very friendly and helpful all the time. Best cleaning service and waking distance to botanical gardens, opera house, harbour bridge, circular quay and king cross train station.

We booked the apartment on advertisement that says kitchen available in apartment. when we checked in, we found the cooktop for the kitchen was camp style single portable electrical heater. We spoke with reception before coming to confirm availability of kitchen as we were travelling with young kids. Even after reporting once we checked in, they were not at all sorry for incorrect advertisement. I have to check out in 2 hours. Room was advice for 4 people but when you put bed for fourth person you cannot walk in room. The cleaning of the room and hotel was sub-standard compared to rating it have. We do not suggest this hotel if travelling with young kids. I booked accommodation via Expedia and they were very helpful in this stressful situation.

Stayed a week here to be near hospitalised family; easy walking to many places, loads of dining options, bus outside the door. Potts Point is much more 'friendly' these days. Room had great comfortable bed, decent desk, good wifi, was cleaned to spotless every day. Fantastic view of Bridge and Opera House, and loved opening windows for fresh air. Staff were really helpful and friendly. My new "go to" for Sydney stays.

Stayed at the Macleay Hotel for a week during Vivid. Decided to stay here since the rating was pretty good according to hotels.com site - 8.6 The was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and these are my reasons why: 1. The room smelled like mildew. We ended up buying Air freshener to make the smell better. 2. After getting the room cleaned, no extra toilet paper was given. When calling to ask if someone could bring up a roll, front desk told me I had to come down and get it myself. 3. Construction was being done on the floor below us around 7:15 am. When talking to the front desk about it, the manager was not apologetic (the first day). Later that evening, I asked the front desk to check if any construction would be going on and the person said no. We were woken up the next morning to a hammer pounding. We recorded it and went down to the front desk to let them hear what we were experiencing. It was then that the manager apologized and comp’d us for the 2 days. My family and I felt like we were catfished in thinking this was a great hotel to stay. I hope others that stay here will have a much better experience than we did.
