DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel McAllen

We love staying at this hotel, staff is always friendly. This time I gave a 4 on the category for comfort due to the bed mattress not being too firm. Usually, the times I stay here the beds have been pretty firm. The carpet was a bit dirty, had my grandbaby crawling and when I picked her up her knees were black which meant the carpets were not completely clean. Which I understand they will not be 100% clean.

What attracted us to this property was the price, location, room size, indoor pool, gym, breakfast, full bar. Room service was super fast! Cons: 1 out of 3 elevators working during 4 days. Room had sewer smell. Had sticky floors and mold on certain parts of ceiling. Asked to move 2nd day and after coming back from the beach we find out they moved us to the room next door (insert facepalm). Smell still slightly there and floor still sticky. Plus that bellhop moved out luggage from room to room. The pool and spa was packed with kids most days. Expected but chose not to use pool as it was too crowded. Gym ceiling was very low. Could not stretch arms up when on treadmill. Had to be careful when raising weights all the way up. Also certain weights missing or only one available; probably walked off. Plus the hotel offered access to Trufit gym block away. Just my experience. Probably won’t stay here again but my neighbor likes this property and chooses to continue to stay here. So best to try it out for yourself and see if you have a better experience.

This place is always amazing. The place is very clean and neat. It’s relatively peaceful. The only thing this time around was the pool area. There were alcoholic drinks left all over the tables, multiple unattended teen children with some long water gun like toys, wet our phones, and belongings as we attempted to sit by the pool area. Also they had a very loud boom box. It was like a dance club and well, this isn’t the norm for Doubltetree. It was not a childlike atomosphere. Very messy and unkept.
