Nice quiet stopover on the way to Quebec. Revisited the colleges that our children went to and remembered when I was a student at Clarkson 60 years ago. Still a nice place to visit and the Inn was a great place to stay.

Property is dated , but adorable. Furnishings are very nice, but wall paper is coming off in many areas. The website misrepresented breakfast service as it is very similar to continental breakfast at a chain hotel. They did have gf bagels and bread though which was much appreciated by my family. There is no chef making omelets order, or prosciutto plates, or fresh made pastries (unless you count a pop tart) We had a front room by the road. There was bright lights all night and drinking antics at all hours. The park is beautiful and I would expect that a river view room would be much more enjoyable. Staff was very helpful and responsive.

I like staying at The Clarkson because of the convenience. If you are looking for full service, Clarkson is ok. They do not serve anything hot for breakfast, it is prepackaged snacks (granola bars, crackers, muffins). Friendliness is not a strong point. No one actually welcomed us to their establishment, when asking for extra blanket for my disabled sister, I was told that the laundry wasn’t done (this was 8:00 in the evening) and they had no blankets. Again, I’ll stay here next year when I visit family because of its convenience to walking. It is clean and safe. If you happen to get a river front room, the view is spectacular.

Chris at the front desk was super helpful and kind. I had booked thr wrong type of room and he trouble shooted the situation to find is room that fit our family.

We enjoyed our weekend because we could walk to local establishments. An extra plus was the farmers market on Saturday adjacent to the Inn. We were in close proximity to Madrid cemetery where family is buried and we could explore. The family reunion was a short distance away in Waddington. We plan on returning next year and stay at the Inn again.

This is a beautiful hotel, walking distance to ice cream, restaurants, and a great park. We love to stay while visiting our child at SUNY POTSDAM
