I should have trusted the reviews. Surprised this is a Hilton. Rooms are very worn. I killed probably 5 bugs every day in the room. The room also had a very strange unpleasant smell. Only one person working the front desk every time we went in. Waited 30 minutes to check in after a 10 hour drive with 3 kids. Ice machine didn’t work and sign that said to go to the bar but no one there.

We arrived an hour after check-in time on a Friday evening and our room wasn’t ready yet. We were asked to wait another hour for it to be cleaned, taking us to 6:00 pm. I asked for a free drink at the bar as compensation while we waited, and after checking with a mgr., our front desk person agreed. The lobby bar served us tasty margaritas. We noticed the room wasn’t too clean during our stay. I found a partial candy wrapper on the floor, and a used towel in a far corner of the bathroom’s ample under-sink shelf area. That said, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was roomy with lots of counter and storage space. The bathroom appeared to have been renovated more recently than did the room, which had dark brown pattern carpet that looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed for a while. There were generous room amenities, including a microwave, coffee maker, and refrigerator, which we appreciated. The room itself was large with plenty of room between two queen size beds. There was also a small table with two comfortable chairs and a big TV. If only it were clean, it would have been a nice room. There was also a separate glass-enclosed building that contained an attractive indoor pool, which we didn’t try, but had quite a few children playing in upon our arrival. The next morning, there wasn’t a soul in sight.

The hotel has potential, but lack of cleanliness will keep us from booking again. The room was filthy. Stained linen, stained window blinds, stains behind the toilet, and poorly maintained furniture. There are a lack of quality hotels in Taos, so my wife and I would recommend staying at El Monte Sagrado. AVOID staying at Historic Taos Inn. We had some family stay there and their room was worse than ours.

Susie went above and beyond bringing my family down free pillows (we’re all allergic). I forgot to request this when booking and they were out at check-in. She actually went to the store, bought pillows and brought them to our room!!!

The facility itself was good. We appreciated the pet friendly policy and the larger room size. However, when our toilet clogged, we went to the office and asked for a plunger. They said they would have to “find their maintenance guy” who never showed up so we ended up going to the Wal-Mart across the street to buy a plunger. We also asked for one more towel because the room had only three for a family of four. They never brought the towel so when we went back to the desk a second time to ask for the towel, a person disappeared as if going to look for one. They never came back so we pressed the other desk person wondering if we should keep standing there to wait or what? She said she would go check and magically came back with two towels and informed us that we were lucky to have gotten the last ones. Such weird “service”.

Went to property at 10:30 a.m. and asked if we could have early check in. Was told my room type (suite) was not available for early checkin, no problem We did the enchanted circle and were able to explore the area. We showed up at 4:30, 1/2 hour pass check in time, they gave us a room we went to the room open the door and there were people sitting on the couch and they tell us they checked in at 10:30 that a.m.! But there wasn’t a room ready for us at sonar time ok I get that. As we walk down the stairs with our bags there’s a guy sitting in the courtyard smoking pot, o know it’s legal in NM but pls have some manners. Went back to front desk told them some o r was in our room They gave us another room we went to that room and again some one was in the room. Went back to front desk and they told me they did not have any suites ready for check in I said just give me a room with double beds and we will be good. Thankfully the third time was a charm no one was in the room we were assigned although it was not a suite I had reserved 3 weeks prior. Ok no big deal. Went to room for ready for dinner and when we were leaving our room someone else was sitting in courtyard smoking dope. Again I realize it’s legal there but do you really need to sit where families are coming and going from their room smoking dope, can they not go to the surrounding woods where I used to have to go to smoke dope. We checked out way early with no problem bc of our experience.

Thought this would be a fancy hotel for what they charged. It was a "motel on the highway". Separated buildings. No connecting halls. Room doors to the outside, not to an interior hall. Ice and snow on the sidewalks and stairs. Unsafe. Noisy hockey kids everywhere. No breakfast included. Mediocre breakfast for $40. Not a good value for $400 per night! Will stay somewhere else next time, like the Hampton Inn.

Good overall stay. It was clean and my kids loved the wallpaper and huge pool. Had mystery stains on the carpets but it wasn’t huge and gross, just small little ones. Overall was nice, the coffee shop across the street was good. Would stay here again.

Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly. I did not like that housekeeping is only provided upon request, but we were able to get the room cleaned when needed. This has been a reliable option for our family the past two trips to Taos. Hope they maintain the property and upkeep.
