Royal Kona Resort

I would not recommend the Royal Kona Resort. When we originally booked we booked a room with two doubles, and somewhere after we booked they changed it to a room with one king. Another family we were traveling with checked in before us and the same thing happened to them and said they couldn't give them a room with two doubles because the hotel was fully booked. We instantly called and tried get them to change our reservation to a room with two beds at which they told us 'there is no guarantee on rooms'. We then tried to cancel and book somewhere else but it was too late to cancel so we called Expedia for assistance. Expedia was great and called the hotel to get us the room we originally booked which the manager then said he would guarantee we'd get the room we booked. A couple days after our stay Royal Kona Resort charged us another $125 CAD which we're still trying to figure out what it was for, we think parking and taxes. Honestly one night at this hotel was so ridiculously expensive and we got a better rate from a nearby vacation home rental that was stocked with everything and had free parking. The rooms are QUITE dated and again do not reflect the price. The only nice thing I can say is the grounds and common lobby area are very nice. To sum up this review: I have never been so disappointed in a hotel, stay away.

The Royal Kona Resort is a beautiful resort. We had an ocean view. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. All of the shopping and restaurants were close by. We enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend them to our family and friends.

Good resort to spend time with family, parking can be difficult find at peak hours.

We brought our kids and double full beds are pretty small. A little older but clean and comfortable. Located in a great area with plenty of food options and shopping nearby.

We love staying here. Great location and have been come here since I was a kid and now am bringing my kids here as well. The kids have blast with the pool and lagoon while me and my wife love the bar.

this was not a vacation but a wonderful place to sleep after a difficult day of travel. Our flight was delayed by 10 hours and instead of arriving at 12:00 we came in at ten and we were too tired to drive. We got the resort last min. reservation was easy, thank goodness. But the room were were put in had noisy neighbors. At the front dest the sweetest girl got us a different room. We really dont complain much but we needed the quiet restful sleep after a difficult day. And it was just what we got. Bless the front desk help the room was perfect! Wish we could have stayed longer. We have friends and family on Hawaii. So we come as often as we can. Thank you

Wrong room. I had booked a king bed but got 2 separate smaller beds. Then was moved to a room where the fure alarm started squeaking loudly waking up my toddler. Overall, poor experience for us.

This was our second stay at the Royal Kona. Both times have been about the same. The grounds are very pretty, the location is great, but the hotel itself and the rooms are pretty dated. The beds are not very comfortable and they have a terrible popcorn ceiling in the actual rooms as well. They have a pool and kiddie pool, but we wish the pool was better as it's pretty basic and not that large. We do love the bar and grill near to the pool and the views are unbeatable. This resort is in a great location too. I can see us staying here again as the price is lower than other resorts on the big island, but the resort itself is pretty average.

We had a wonderful stay with a beautiful view of the ocean. The amenities are a little lacking and the rooms could use a little updating, but you cannot beat the view or the atmosphere. The pool options were great for the kids and my husband and I enjoyed the drinks at the poolside restaurant:

Perfect resort for family, but room definitely need renovations. Friendly staffs and friendly service support. Nice and convenient location within walking distance to shopping, dining, beaches.
