DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort

I went with my family and we quite enjoy our stay. The staff are quite lovely and ready to help especially Joanne who helped my family to find lovely places to visit during our stay. I would have rated it a 5 star service aside the fact that the room there is no air condition making the room a bit sturfy overnight as a family of four.

Average hotel, queen room was spacious, clean and with large bathroom with shower and bath. There was many light switches that did nothing, and only one lamp on one side. The staff were all lovely, I didn't like the free cookie but my partner enjoyed them. The spa was decent enough never went for any treatments as they seemed overpriced. Not as relaxing as I had hoped having to sort of shout to my partner on the lounger next to me. But not to bothered about that, families deserve a nice weekend too, plus the swimming lessons held must be great for local families! The food and the pricing was shocking. Absolutely ridiculous amount of money for the quality of food! I'm no chef but it tasted like the main was out the freezer with a microwaved dessert. I feel I could have got the same quality out of weather spoons for £25 for two people than the £70 I paid. Go elsewhere for food! It felt more like a small Butlins/Haven holiday park with a golf course than a 4-star golf/spa resort. I wouldn't return but I did enjoy the hot water, steam and sauna.

Having to wait an hour with three children after the check in time was unacceptable, Staff generally unhelpful and members of the gym going out there way to be rude at the spa area. A very disappointing stay and not value for money.

Visited Westerwood with my wife, 2 teenage kids and dog, we have visited before at a similar time of year. Welcome at reception was pleasant and room was excellent, good size and clean and tidy. We were informed that there was no pool and spa open on day of arrival although this was 1st Jan and is explainable it would have been nice to know when booking. Helpful friendly staff member covering in lounge bar area. Dinner was not up to standard previously enjoyed at hotel, quality poor and took a long time to get food. Visited pool which was open on 2nd day and steam room not working. Might just have been time of year or lack or staff but definitely not as good as previous visits.

Our room needed revamped as did the bathroom. The bed and pillows were clean and very comfortable. Staff friendly. However the bathroom extractor fan was constantly on. The sink plug was filthy. We spoke to reception about both of these complaints and they assured us it would be rectified...it wasn't. Shower tray needs replacing..it was in a very poor state. We ate in the restaurant one evening and one morning for breakfast. The evening meal was awful and was sent bad. It was actually inedible. Some of the family tried the pool and said it was tired and needed updating. Very dissappointed.

The hotel was clean, however it felt a little outdated. The bar was expensive, cost £4 for a soft drink. We stayed in a family room however had to ask for more towels as they only provided 2. Then they took the towels away the next day even though we left them on the hook, and they only left us 2 again. We also had to ask for the sofa bed to be made up. Overall I was happy, the pool facilities are great. Breakfast was a GOOD price with a nice choice of food. We couldn't find a menu for the restaurant so we didn't bother trying it. I would consider going back however, for the price I might have been more satisfied with a Premier Inn.

Disappointing stay. The food from the bar menu was terrible for the price paid. Very much cheap and not made fresh or by an actual chef. When asked how it was and informed the staff it was not good the response “ah ok” and left. Room was clean but due to how out of date the hotel is no air con so boiling hot. We had a family room overlooking the car park and where people must go to smoke underneath so could not have the window open. Pillows awful so hardly slept due to heat and uncomfortable. Digital room keep worked once then never again and we were so far from reception that when asked about it said it working on the system and I am the only staff member on so can’t leave my station. Pool was outdated, dirty and needs major repair work. Hardly any working lockers. I would not recommend this as a spa hotel. For a Marriott we were bitterly disappointed. The only plus point was that they accept dogs in the room but they are not allowed in any of the restaurant only bar area so limited to food options.
