Slieve Donard

Trip was outstanding from the moment we arrived at the Slieve Donard. Staff were very helpful and always on hand with assistance. Spa and swimming pool facilities were state of the art with pool being perfect for toddler. Decor of hotel was one of a kind with our room decor being first class. Bed was excellent however pillows were a little to soft however that’s only minimal in the whole hotel experience.

Great location, in a beautiful hotel. Service was superb - nothing seemed too much trouble. Room was large and clean with added extras of a coffee maker and capsules. Obstructed view with opaque covering limited natural light entering room. Slight problem with drainage from sink and shower. Main bed amazing, double bed for children bowed slightly at centre. Bedding and pillows were the best I’ve ever had. All in all, a lovely trip with amazing staff. Thank you.

Shower didn’t work. Receptionist did try to locate us to two rooms. However with two kids I did not feel comfortable. Sink blocked the whole time. Overall bathroom a bit run down. Also carpets in various locations looked dirty and room not cleaned to standard expected and seen before. That being said beds very comfortable and staff in all locations friendly and helpful.

Lovely break away with my husband. The hotel was lovely. Stayed in the junior suite. Couldn’t have asked for more. The spa was amazing. Although the hotel was very busy it didn’t seem too packed. We will certainly be back.

Made a reservation for dinner at checkin - we then didn’t have a booking when we went down. Dinner took 1.5 hrs to arrive. No one told us why. Dirty plates from kids dinner left on table for an hour. Brought sorbet out and don’t offer to our child 10% service charge added to bill at end of meal! Awful service at breakfast - had to ask for coffee 3 times. Fried eggs arrived after 20 mins No robes in bedroom Had to ask 3 times for a travel cot

The breakfast is the best ive ever had in a hotel. Fantastic breakfast. So much variety and very tasty. Service was slow when we phoned from our room. We only had one robe and needed one beforw going to swimming pool but took over 30 mins to get this to our room with 3 phonecalls. The hotel needs to be strict on kids swimming times they didn't address parents who brought kids swimming during the adult times. If you have a rule stick to it. Other than that an lovely stay!

Lovely stay in the Slieve Donard, one night, complimentary breakfast. Ate in main restaurant for dinner, check over the menu before you go as it is limited. Food is expensive if you are not on a dinner package. Percy French’s restaurant a couple minutes walk from hotel in grounds is busy and seems very popular. Pool area is good. Busy with families when we were there. We plan to return in the new year.lovely walk along the beach at front of the hotel.

Had a lovely stay at the slieve donard with my husband and two children. We had afternoon tea which was delicious. The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool we were there for hours. The bedroom was lovely it felt so cosy. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning there was a good selection

We were disappointed as the hotel in not very Family friendly. Children are not allowed in the pool after 5.30pm. We were not aware of this and had no idea the curfew would be so early. By the time we had checked in it was almost 5pm so we got 20 mins to use the facilities...and since we were only staying one night we only had a very short window of opportunity the following morning as the pool doesn't open until 9.30 and you have to be checked out of you room by 11. So breakfast had to be super early. I really feel a 6.30 or 7pm curfew would be more reasonable as parents with kids are really restricted. Also we were in a family room and the sofa bed was not made up on arrival. It was not very comfortable and the pillows were flat with no extra pillows provided. We had no window in the bathroom and the windows in the room were frosted and only opened slightly. So overall the hotel is gorgeous but our experience as a family was disappointing.

Amazing hotel. Beautifully decorated throughout after recent refurbishment. Room was luxurious and very comfortable. Pool/spa was fantastic with great views of sea and mournes. Only point to note from family perspective was that the pool was 1.35m depth throughout and those children not confident swimming will need buoyancy aids. Breakfast was superb with good range of hot food, pastries, fruit and cold meats. Only minor bug bear was the fact we had to ask for tea 3 times before it arrived but this was after 9am and their busiest time so kind of understandable.
