Very interesting historic building. Lovely friendly helpful staff family owned business

Receptionist that checked us in was lovely and friendly, the waitress who served us for breakfast likewise. However she was rushed off her feet with no help from anyone else. We had to ask for coffee, milk and even cups and saucers as these had all run out and not been replenished from the self service part of the restaurant. The included breakfast was very tasty but very small as only 4 items are `allowed` with the included rate. You get more at the local, supermarket cafe. We had a junior suite and it was nice with a large comfy bed. Had to ask for a new remote control for TV as the one in the room did not work and it turned out someone had nicked the batteries out of it (it was screwed shut too! ) The bathroom was lovely with a gorgeous big bath and powerful shower. The hallways and bar area have all seen better days sadly. I came to Grafton for a wedding 13 years ago and was wowed by it but this time it felt a little tired and in need of some sparkle and TLC and obviously a few more staff at breakfast. The driveway leading up to the hotel is full of pot holes and puddles and it is a real shame that the initial wow factor is somewhat spoilt. It has so much potential but it needs a little bit of investment to make it wonderful again.
