Lovely, friendly, family-run B&B. Comfy rooms with small bathrooms. Fantastic breakfast. Overall, a really nice place to stay that I will be happy to return to.

3 out of 5 stars

I had booked for 3 nights but stayed only one. This was due to the fact that the private bathroom promised turned out to be a tiny cubicle, (no towels) across the hallway from the bedroom. I was told is a somewhat superior manner by the owner that en-suite was not promised, and that private bathroom did not mean it was In the bedroom. How stupid of me, however the bathroom was so small it was impossible to dress in there. After having a shower I had to dash back to my room before the lights, on tiers, went out. You really don't expect this today. I decided to move to somewhere that provided truly private facilities. Other guests had used the toilet. Single travellers pay more for their rooms than couples or families. It's so unfair they are treated unequally. The bedroom was also small approximately 6 X 11 feet. To open or close the window I had to stand in a wicker bedroom chair which was not very safe. On the plus side the breakfast was good quality and the other guests were pleasant. The owner was happy to take payment for the three nights as I suppose was his right but I do feel hard done to. I could not possible stay and have to have the nightly run to the bathroom. I was also told I would be lucky to get anywhere else in Whitby that offered en suite to singles. Apparently we are second class citizens not really wanted.
