Stayed overnight with our son. Exactly what we needed. Spacious, clean and well appointed family room in quaint, quiet location. Excellent breakfast in characterful, friendly and professional environment. Enjoyed exploring the Great Estates Trail from the doorstep.

Very impressed with our stay. We booked a family room, but heard they have cottages, so queried by message and Callum was very helpful. On arrival it was Callum who checked us in and he seemed to be around quite a lot. We were delighted as we were given a cottage. Swiss cottage has a lounge, kitchen, conservatory, a single bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, bathroom and shower. The cottage was quite basic but clean and adequately furnished. Heating was very good. Breakfast excellent, we were served all three mornings by a lady who has only just started here and was very friendly and helpful. You can choose your breakfast cooked items also cereal, toast, jams, marmite, orange juice. We had dinner on Friday and it was superb. Excellent menu (the homemade lasagne was one of the best I've ever had). Puddings were great and good size portions. We were visiting my brother in law and his family so will be back again later this year!

My this or fourth time staying here on business. Pleasant staff, quiet village, well situated for an assault on Norfolk and beyond. I was fortunate to stay in Swiss Cottage this time, which is nicely kitted out and would be a brilliant place for a family / group to stay as a base for an exploration of the region. Village has a chippy, and the pub seems nice, though I've never eaten there, always arriving late and leaving after breakfast (which has been brilliant on earlier visits, but not as good this time around (don't know why - maybe it was me?). Look forward to trying it all again in the not too distant future - good value, nice atmosphere, parking can be tricky if you arrive late, friendly natives!

I had booked a family room so we were surprised and pleased to discover out accommodation was in fact a 3 bedroom cottage! Great value for money and the breakfast which was included was also very good.

This was our first stay at the hotel for myself and husband when visiting family in the area. Our room was clean with a very comfortable bed. There was a good choice of food in the hotel restaurant, the breakfasts were great too. There is a large beer garden at the back of the hotel with plenty of seating too. The hotel staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay.

For a visit to meet with family, we chose the Crown Hotel. From the moment we drove into this quintessential village, we were tranported back to the year 1650. The beautiful pub/hotel is the central building of the village. The rooms on the ground floor have the original stone flooring and are large enough to accommodate disabled people although, the bathrooms would not! Even if you have nowhere to go, I recommend visiting this establishment for the history of the village and the excellent customer service you receive from all the staff. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and anything from a simple cereal & cup of tea to a full English was available. After travelling the last thing you want to do is look for somewhere to eat in the evening, so look no further than The Crown. They serve a variety of food from a well packed prawn sandwhich with salad, to a full cooked menu. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Crown Hotel it really is a quintessential step back in time with great hospitality.

It started out good. The first nights sleep was awful so I asked if they had a mattress topper. They very kindly provided one, however the mattresses were cheap and nasty and even with the mattress topper the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The place seemed to have a few maintenance issues and we had to ask for more toilet paper twice during our stay. The shower kept blocking and we had to report this twice, but it continued. There are four steps up to the bathroom but no handrail. For safety’s sake I think a handrail is needed. Breakfast on the first couple of days was very good. Hot food, properly cooked and the waitress who was an older lady was very welcoming, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Don’t know if the chef was the same or not but the lady was not there and there were two very young girls waiting on us. They were more interested in chatting to each other out in the kitchen than checking if we had what we wanted or clearing the tables. They were sullen, forgetful and our breakfast came out with cold mushrooms. A man at another table said his beans were cold. Our waitress could not remember what we’d asked for. We had to keep asking for coffee.. Dinner was ok but the portions were so large the chips and salad were falling off the plates. It was a bit off putting and we saw so much waste. We started ordering just starters because the mains were just too much. Some locals using the bar were very foul mouthed and loud. Unacceptable with children in.
