Barnsdale Lodge Hotel and Restaurant

We had a really enjoyable stay at Barnstable Lodge Hotel. The staff were really great especially the gentleman behind the bar. We were celebrating our anniversary and a family member had kindly paid for a bottle of champagne for us. He made everything extra special by taking a photo for us before we had a meal in the restaurant. The food was faultless it was really wonderful. Breakfast the next morning was great too and the service was very quick. The only slight criticism would be that our room was quite cold but there was a radiator and an electric heater . I guess we are in between seasons so it’s hard to get the temperature right for everyone. There was a wedding going on too but the staff seemed to cope extremely well. The only delay we had was on arrival a short wait at the bar as the poor man was rushed off his feet. All in all I would certainly stay again, it’s in such beautiful grounds. Very relaxing.

Room was described as a superior but I have been in standard rooms that were better. Room details specified black out blinds ! There weren’t any, the wardrobe was distressed and barely suitable for children’s clothes let alone adults, think it was on its last legs and I don’t think Drew Pritchard would give it a second look. The TV signal was dropping out intermittently so evenings viewing went south. The bar area was very nice and comfortable with an array of pictures on the walls to admire and a very pleasant view overlooking the grounds at the back. Breakfast was very good but was not impressed with the diner menu, had to wait until 6pm before the menu was really for viewing which ment we ate later than we would normally but the meal we decided on was nice. The Lodge is situated in a beautiful area and the building itself is a delight. Worth a stay.

Really comfortable stay for a short family get together. Very comfortable. Very attentive and pleasant staff, but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend.
