we had a family party, and there was a few things which I was not very happy about, the family booked a table for an evening meal months a ago, and we found out that the hotel messed up the booking so all the family could not sit together!!! i I had brought drinks and was over charged and this happened many times with my family group which is terrible service at the main bar, then my wife phoned up regarding there allergies which the hotel swore blind they could cater for her, they could not cater for her at all, so I had to drive out of Dunston hall to go and get food so again could not eat with the family, the staff expected my wife to eat bland food because they could definitely not cater for people with allergies, the staff came over with a folder that was so big to look at the allergies list with my wife!!! we are in the year 2000 surly they could update this list on to a tablet !!! in the room, the sheets were do old and when you moved I woke up my wife and vice averse! this place could be so much better, the only thing i can say is the golf centre personnel were excellent and they are the only thing keeping this place going, the staff at the golf centre were so helpful. I don't think the family of 15 will be having our gathering again at Dunston hall, in fact we should be re-inbust some money back for our stay and for all the family who had issues throughout the 2 days of our stay and for the one day I stayed, thank god I only stayed 1 day, never agin!!!

Went with my friend on a shopping trip. This hotel was a Good find. We had a deluxe family room which had two queen beds and ir conditioning which was ideal. The breakfast was good and evening meals tasty.

Short break (3 nights) away. Hotel is easy to find and a very imposing/impressive looking building. When we arrived there was a school prom on so there was traffic queued on the drive but there is plenty of parking. Excellent check in, short time later when I enquired about a fan as the room was hot the receptionist gave me the fan behind the desk! Room I felt was dark especially when there is a mirror by the TV but no downwards illumination in that area. Breakfast excellent, staff helpful, fabulous terrace area behind the main bar, snooker table in Bunkers bar...but only 1 (terrible) cue!. Only issue we had was on the (final) Saturday night 10.00pm some kids running along the corridors banging doors. After the 3rd time I went looking for them and they legged it into the gents toilet opposite the main bar. Although a number were hiding in the cubicles they had a peace of my mind and lots of expletives!! Informed Kate the duty manager and advised her to check the CCTV. No problem Thursday and Friday, must be different clientele on a Saturday. Overall a great stay, would definitely stay again.

I have just returned home from a 1 night stay here with my family, booked as a birthday celebration we had two rooms. & was really looking forward to the night away. I am thoroughly disappointed as it was a bad experience which started as soon as I arrived as I was charged an extra £60 early check in fee which is normally free if rooms are ready in any other Hotel. I then went to the 2 rooms I had with interconnecting doors. I walked in opened the curtains and was hit with large mould and damp patches on the net curtains. Later I ran a bath and cut my finger when trying to pull the plug as the lever for this had sheared off and was left sticking out. The controller for the TV was all taped up. The toilets in the rooms were dirty. And after very little sleep, due the to the room being so hot, we were all woken up by the cleaners at 6am constantly slamming cleaning cupboard door opposite our rooms. When spoke to the receptionist about this they didn’t seem bothered, All I can say is we are really gutted with this experience.

Stayed in a family room, over looking the bins. Had 2 nights requested a room change but staff cold and reluctant to offer anything. The room itself was a sauna and one small fan given meant nothing. Heat comes through the bathroom which again are tired, ours has issues with the broken seat and broken plug in bath tub and shower head. Breakfast was fairly decent. Checkout was sad, not even the usual greeting just took the keys and that was it. Shame as the property deserves better than this from their staff attitude.

This hotel has character. The deluxe family room was very nice. However the bathtub and the tiles need a serious makeover. The big towel drying rack in the bathroom is a nice feature. It’s so nice to be able to dry used towels. My children loved this hotel. They were pleased they didn’t have to sleep on a pullout couch. I did find the bedding very nice. The breakfast bar was OK. Had the full fry up buffet, yogurt area, pastries and cereal. The selection of juice tasted concentrated. However, they had a separate gluten free toaster and soya milk. The pool is very big but again the changing room is tired looking. The sauna and the steam room was very nice and well maintained. The spa is very popular so make sure to book your appointments ahead! Online booking system is very handy. I enjoyed my stay but I can’t say I absolutely loved it. There is room for improvement. That saying my family did enjoy their stay. It’s a good place to go for families with young children.

Extremely over priced. Lounge restaurant closed at 5pm leaving us with only the main restaurant to eat in. £158.00 for a family of 3 to eat not including drinks. Drinks were expensive, £3.60 for a small lemonade ( 4ltrs of Schweppes is only £2.50). £14.00 for 1 beer, 1 bottle of water and 1 bottle of J20. Bed was uncomfortable and the mattress was very soft on one side. Fantastic hotel in appearance as you first arrive but we won’t be going back.

I rarely do this but I had to this time. A family wedding is a special time and to be taken advantage of is appalling behaviour. We arrived on the Wednesday and spent the day in the bar drinking until 10pm food over priced and sometimes not even cooked properly… frozen sandwiches reheated and curled up in the corners… takeaway ordered as food was better. Day of the wedding over 100 guest and when the bar opened the bar was not restocked from the day before … no bottles of beer in the fridge. No lemonade for mixers no orange juice for mixers either.. and the reply from the bar staff “ not my job to restock the bar” oh and £1.50 for a splash of lime in your drink… oh and please don’t think this is a cheap shot our golf society has used the venue as our overnight for the past 2 years but not not this year

The hotel was very nice and comfortable for our stay. One day, our room was not made, even though we kept a request on the door to tidy up. Other than that, it was very pleasant stay for us. The kids had fun in the indoor swimming pool and the breakfast was also nice. It was a bit crowded at the breakfast counters though.
