We were visiting family, the hotel itself was lovely, room was a little tired, the walls were chipped and needed new painting. I was surprised about not having an option to decline the holding fee on the debit card when we advised we would pay as we go. It was made very clear that the holding charge was an option I could not refuse.

We stay here often and it is in a perfect position for us, when visiting family in and around Maidstone. Best of all they are very dog friendly. The property itself is showing its age a bit but not terrible. No AC in rooms, but fans are available from reception.

I had booked a night away for relaxation at your spa and it was anything but that. I arrived just before 3pm and got settled in my room before going to the spa. I had 30 minutes there before children’s swimming lessons started. I was not informed of this and it was extremely loud and noisy in the spa area. When I brought this up with reception I was brushed off by the receptionist saying it’s on the website- when I looked it only stated their is a splash time right at the bottom of the page and nothing about private lessons and it is so far at the bottom you wouldn’t notice it. Why was I not informed at check in? To top it off when I went back to the spa the next morning there were more lessons going on - I was not told about this when I had spoken to the receptionist the night before. I am sure you can understand that the team had ample opportunity to inform me of what goes on but did not. How can you advertise your hotel as a spa if there are constantly children’s swimming lessons going on. To add to this I asked the receptionist at check in if I need to book a table for dinner and was told that it’s not busy so I could just walk in. When I arrived at the restaurant I was very rudely told it was fully booked and was given no alternative. I asked what I can do and she said I can sit in the bar which was also quite full a d dirty. Very poor experience and definitely not the relaxation I wanted.

Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. The noisy screaming running around children spoiled eating bar food in the lobby area.
