The family booked 3 rooms with 3 children and 4 adults in the wonderful Imperial. Every time we have stayed it’s been so clean and so relaxing .We highly recommend this historic and important hotel to all age groups.

The room we stayed in was 244 it was a family room large bed and single bed, spacious room clean and comfortable beds,
The room could do with a revamp, tired wallpaper and radiator but overall lovely place to stay, we have been here a few times and fully enjoyed our stay.
Breakfast always amazing choices staff very friendly and helpful.
Shame about the £9 for parking but cheap enough.

Stunning old building with lots of character. The whole feel of the place was lovely. The staff were amazing - everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Our room was a great size (family room). We didn’t need the third bed though as the master bed was enormous and we all slept in there! We would certainly return.

The reception is grand.. you check in.. pay for your extortionate parking and are told follow the signs to your room is.. of course, no offer to take bags etc..
we were greeted with a room that had ripped faded curtains that didn’t fully close.. an old wooden window that didn’t close at all, peeling wallpaper, peeling paint on the ceiling in the bathroom, a bathroom sink that was siliconed by a blind man and smelly sink drains.. the bed was the so soft any time one of us moved it was throw the one in the air.. we both left with a bad back..
Where are all the plugs!? None by the bed? In 2023.. no usb plugs? Come on..
We requested a family room with a double and a single to be greeted with a camp bed stuffed between the dated / damaged furniture that looked like it has been there since the hotels first day and the window that wouldn’t close .. offering an unwelcome October chill all night.
Breakfast is as you’d expect full English served in a trough under a hot lamp.. cereal.. juice.. basic croissants/ pastries.. yogurt and fruit.. and the only nice flourish… a pancake machine which my 6 year old liked.. it would have been nice to see some salmon or continental hams/ cheeses? Maybe, a banana ..?
By biggest disappointment was at no stage during my stay during my various interactions at breakfast and at checkout to anyone ask.. ‘how is/was your stay’

The Imperial Hotel is consistently welcoming with excellent staff who are pleasant and helpful. As a family we stay 3 or 4 times a year for a break and nothing is too much trouble. Some of the rooms are a little dated but are always spotlessly clean and comfortable. The entertainment in the restaurant is a new addition and is of a high standard as is the food. We have stayed at this hotel over many years and have never been disappointed. Thank you so much for enabling us to have a stress free and enjoyable break. We will be back in the New Year.

We arrived at 8pm, got to our room was a little run down not what we’d had in the past , really old tv on a small stand , paint work looking worn , small bathroom , found old milk carton different brand than we had so god knows how long been there , leather head board really dusty as well as draws , towel warmer patched up with tape , door handles didn’t match and neither did the taps , the last day our room
Wasn’t services at all when we’d been out all day and night , bed not made with fresh sheets or new towels we complained
To reception they gave us tea and coffee and fresh towels but that’s it , breakfast choice good and alway topped up the first breakfast I had a tickle in my throat I have lung problems ans couldn’t stop coughing on and off a waiter made a comment loudly so everyone could hear sitting near us watch out she’s got the plague if my staff did that they wouldn’t be working anymore I was made embarrassed and uncomfortable , the chairs in the restaurant very old and some unsafe to sit on , the pins were coming through on the top of one of them which scratched my hand luckily wasn’t a child it happened to , bed comfortable windows old and with high winds screeched all night because they didn’t shut properly hotel needs some renovations and some staff training ,
