WESTGATE Hotel

I have nothing but praise for Westgate. It's right around the block of the Ximen MRT station (within seconds) and is so conveniently located by the night market. It was so clean inside, very quiet even though it's by the night market. Staff was so friendly and incredibly helpful. Beds were comfortable and the breakfast each morning was great. I was visiting Taiwan for a family emergency and staying at Westgate made my trip so much better. I've already recommended this hotel to other family members. I will stay here again on my next visit!!

Great location but that’s about it. The hotel is inflexible and doesn’t provide basics like proper air conditioning. They turn off the air conditioner when the weather outside is cold, but the room becomes stuffy and warm. Their solution? To open up the windows (facing the main road), so you’ve got to choose between a cold room or a noisy room. Those travelling with a child. Note that their Executive suite consists of a queen bed whereas their basic rooms consist of a king sized bed. when I requested for a king sized bed, they suggested cancelling my Expedia booking and asked me to book direct from the hotel at WAY higher rates for a lower grade room. Nonsense, inflexible and not practical at all. After a whole episode, they decide to ask me to pay extra 900 TWD per night to upgrade the room. The royal suite (or whatever they call it) was quite a joke Don’t get me started on the check out process. Travelling with a kid is tough and I requested for a slightly late checkout (even 30-45 minutes will help), they declined stating that the hotel is fully booked. Okay fine. So I told them I’ll top up if necessary. All of a sudden, the room is suddenly available (yes I know they’re running a business and I’m happy to pay extra if it’s reasonable) but they quoted 5000 TWD for a slight extension. When I asked if we could just push back checkout to an hour later; they claimed that if I checkout later than 11am, the system will charge me for half a day amounting to 5000TWD.

very good services, convenient location, clean. Premier double very spacious (open) bathroom sink & countertop, very good for couple, not suitable for family/friends sharing room. Only one thing is that the mouth rinsing glass is too heavy & too large to hold. I dropped it in the sink & broke it, hotel charged me TW$200. I think the hotel should provide non-breakable & smaller cup mouth rinsing.
