Silks Place Tainan

I stayed here with my mother and 2 children for one night. The check in process was easy and staff was very friendly. The room was clean and beds very comfortable. Multiple coffee shops and 7-11 store within 5 minute walk from the hotel and there a free shuttle to the High Speed Rail around the corner. Overall, an excellent hotel!

We booked the Junior Family Queen room for family of four and it was big, clean and comfortable. It is relatively easy to get to the tourist attractions and dining places (by foot and uber) from the hotel.

Pros: the rooftop pool was a hit with the kids and great after a hot day of touring the city. There is also a mini kids club with toys. Beds were standard and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is extensive and kids loved the pastries, eggs station and cereals, even marshmallows! Note; No specific gluten free options but lots to choose from eg. Eggs, nice fruits and yogurt so it is fine. Cons: The rooms are OK, fairly clean but not sparkling. I would not consider luxury. Would be a 3 star in North America. The properly seems dated, especially the hallway carpets and stained fabric above the headboards. We booked Silks because it seemed like the highest luxury hotel we could find in Tainan. Coming from a 5 star in Taipei it was a big step down, (which I should have supposed given the price difference). The room service consists of options that are American style chicken BBQ, etc which were inedible. We paid but set them outside due to the smell and informed the kitchen. Tainan seems is fairly small so location is not a major criteria for hotel selection, as everything (even Ten Drums Village) seemed to be 5-20 mins taxi which is very manageable.
