Shangri-La Far Eastern Tainan

The room is very spacious and the gym is well-equipped with a lovely swimming pool packed with families. The condition of the room is abit old and toilet bowl is a little smelly.

Hotel is next to the train station (not High Speed Rail, but regular Taiwan Rail), so it’s easy to hop on the train to go to adjacent cities such as Kaohsiung. Services are excellent. But my room has a distinct smell like Indian spice, which bothered me and my family. Besides that, it’s all good.

Very nice hotel. Not super close to center Tainan but easy to grab a cab. Rooms are spacious - we had a high floor with a gorgeous view of the ocean. We also utilized the breakfast buffet and truly one of the best selections of native cuisines and exotic selection of sushi and ample fresh fruits. Our kids loved the pool and we took advantage of it on multiple occasions. Overall a very pleasant experience - would come back again 100%.

The entire room only have 1 USB charging port, it is not enough for me and my family. Also the couch and carpet appears to very worn out and not clean.

While I don’t usually pick older properties for my stays, Shangri-La Tainan came highly recommended by friends and families. And it did not disappoint. From confirming the reservation to post-stay experience, I am still in awe that this kind of 5 stars service still exists in the hospitality industry. Booked 3 rooms for 1 night with breakfast, which I wanted connecting rooms. Even though connecting rooms were not available, I was reassured that my rooms will be very close to each other. And yes they were! During my stay, I needed some help with making reservations for dinning, which concierge took care of it immediately. My son left his swim trunks in the room after we checked out, and I was informed quickly. The hotel arranged to ship back the missing item immediately. This kind of service is rare these days!
