Strömstad Spa & Resort, An Ascend Member

enjoyed our stay from the very first. the nice arrival area, friendly staff, early check-in, large areas able to keep distances, great junior-suite. only missing was air-con, which was needed at that specially hot day!

Hotel in an amazing setting outside the centre of Strömstad. Situated by the waterfront the hotel has views looking into Strömstad centre with the water separating the two. It is also close to one of Sweden’s national parks at Koster (islands). The hotel has onsite parking (extra fee 110kr a day) with a few charging points for electric vehicles. Several onsite pools, spa area which is great, note children are allowed in during specified hours. The outdoor terrace bar can get popular, also an outdoor pizzeria. Restaurant inside is very good with a good a la carte menu, that said one can also order from the pizzeria if needed. Room was spacious for a family of 4( deluxe room) with a separate double room for the adults and a pull out sofa bed in the lounge. We also had a balcony The negative was at night the room was extremely hot, there is no air conditioning which made the room feel like a sauna. We tried to open the doors to the balcony at night but the wind was too strong that it came off the latch and and the door was banging about. We had no other choice but to shut the door and bear with it for 2 nights. The room wasn’t cheap so we were surprised about the lack of A/C. We were on the 6th floor so the wind it noticeably different to those lower down. When I sat on the balcony on both mornings it was evident the chefs were preparing breakfast, there was a strong smell of bacon coming from the extractor fans.
