Nicely refurbished hotel on the sea front, just a 14 minute walk into the old town. We had a junior suite which was lovely however to use the safe you had to pay extra. The pool area is gated and does not open until 10am which we felt was quite ridiculous. By 9.45am there was a large queue of people waiting to get a sunbed. It’s hot enough to be by the pool much earlier so why restrict the entry time? This has put us off returning to a Barceló hotel. Breakfast was ok, rather tasteless, and the coffee was poor.

Very clean and quiet hotel. There is public parking under the hotel, convenient stores in walking distance. A great place to stay with kids too.

We had a family holiday here for 10days. Fantastic location and hotel was spotless. Not one thing I would change. We stayed there on a BB basis. Lots of great restaurants close at hand for your event meal.

This is a wonderful hotel. Would highly recommend it. We stayed in a junior suite with a huge balcony. One of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. We can’t think of any negatives at all for this hotel - except perhaps not charging 3 euros per day for the safe. The 2 other hotels we have stayed in during this holiday all had a free safe in the room. The pool area was lovely with no problem getting a sunbed. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful - thanks to Lucia for arranging our day trip to Gibraltar, which was definitely worth going to. The Crispy Cod restaurant a few doors down did a really tasty fish/chicken and chips. All in all, a really superb hotel - would definitely recommend it.

Let's start with the elephant in the room: We filtered for adults only on hotels.com and booked Occidental Fuengirola. It's not adults only. The clientele is a mix of Brits treating it as their local pub before and after golfing, business trips and some couples/parents with young children/babies. If you can't stand loud groups of men who golf, go elsewhere. Really. The hotel is alright. Rooms are ok, beds are not very comfortable and soft at the top but very hard underneath the thin soft top layer. TV has a ton of channels. Bathroom is fine and does the job, but could have done with more light around the mirror. Shower has nice pressure. Minibar fridge is tiny. Service at the reception is pretty good, helpful and efficient. Overall positives do not make this a 4 star hotel in my book, more like a 3,5/5. Now let's dive in to the negatives: Breakfast buffet. Oh my god. Hunger games. The desperation in people and selfishness of how people behave when they have to wait to get bread, eggs, bacon, drinks, fruit and other stuff is sickening. The layout of the breakfast restaurant is not ideal, but I've been to plenty hotels with more guests and smaller areas where you don't fear for your limbs when waiting to get food. It might be a cultural thing with boomer generation Brits acting like neanderthals seeing food for the first time, but it got progressively worse during our week at the hotel. Staff did not do anything to make the buffet work in a more orderly fashion. Outta space

We had an amazing family holiday at this hotel. We had a sea view Junior Suite with zip&link bed in the bedroom then sofa bed in the lounge room. Rooms were separated by a sliding door. Very modern, clean & bright rooms, including excellent bathroom with two sinks and large walk in shower. Breakfast was excellent and there was a very wide selection of food and drinks for all tastes and appetites, including vegan. The pool area was lovely, again, very clean and well managed. The gate to the pool and its sun beds opens at 10.30am so no big early rush to get reserve a bed, which was brilliant and made for a very relaxing holiday. We were on a B&B basis so I’m unable to comment on lunch/dinner.
