The Suites Hotel Gyeongju

Good stay. Great for infant/small child

Terrible smell in the hallway in 3rd floor. Paid extra for family room with breakfast, but had to pay extra for kids and the room was of the same size of a normal double room in the travel group. All facilities closed at 18 pm and not close to the lake.

Positives: Beautiful property set on a golf course. Note, the hotel is NOT on the lake, it is a long walk to get to the lake. Huge rooms, comfortable beds. Very kid friendly, great for families (with caveats, see note below about dinner) Staff is very friendly, competent, eager to please. All in all a very nice hotel Negatives: Location is far away from the historic sites of Gyeongju. While there are buses that you can board in front of the Hyundai Hotel, they are very crowded. Taxi, while reasonable at around $ 10 USD to get to the city center, if you need to come back to the hotel to rest and go back out, this runs in to serious money. There is NO DINNER SERVICE at the hotel. Given the remote location, this is really surprising as there is nothing nearby to get a quick meal. We were told to walk over to the Hyundai hotel for dinner, we found it to be a typical overpriced hotel food, nothing special but OK for sustenance. Near the check in desk, there is a glass case with Ramen noodles, snacks and soft drinks, that's it, not even a small convenience store within the hotel. I don't see what families with little children can do to get dinner. Neutral: Breakfast buffet was OK, the Korean selections are probably much better than the western choices. Coffee was standard drip variety that you get in road side delis, not good. For a resort hotel, they really should get an espresso machine. Overall, the stay was OK, but if we go back to this area, we won't stay here again.
