First time staying at Tanoa Hotel, travelled with a family group of 6 ( incl 3 children 6 and under) and shared 2 double rooms.
- Rooms were clean, spacious and well equiped. There is no kitchenette.
- Staff are friendly
- Rooms were well serviced daily with clean towels and extra if needed.
- Great little kids pool that our kids loved.
Larger adult pool
- Menu options are limited and breakfast buffet appears to change on alternate day cycles, it can get boring.
Overall a great stay

We had a lot of our family staying here at Tanoa and let me say our experience was just amazing! Everyone here is so friendly and very helpful. The AC is one of the best, nice and cool air. Every staff was so friendly and helpful. The ladies cleaning our room always made it feel so much cleaner every time we came back to our room. We will definitely come back and stay here at Tanoa!

Beds are comfortable and room is spacious. Very family friendly. Tiny flaw that can't be helped is shower and toilet are a bit outdated. Cleaners still do a great job maintaining cleanliness daily. Reception & kitchen staff were great & always on hand to help when needed.

Tanoa has really upgraded within a year & since Covid. Staff are lovely, breakfast is AMAZING with a cook who is there to make fresh eggs or omelettes. Their menu changes daily. My favourite was koko esi. We didn’t need to leave the hotel as the pool is available, aircon is really good & restaurant is open til 10:30pm. I have stayed at many hotels in Samoa & I can honestly say Tanoa is number 1 across all accomodation options in Samoa. I look forward to returning. The staff here are amazing & feel so much love for them because of their hospitality. 10/10 for us (family of 4-2 adults & 2 children)

Tanoa is a beautiful hotel aesthetically but with a bit of fine tuning in their customer service it could potentially be the best hotel in Apia. I had a terrible experience with Tanoa on a previous trip so I was hoping this time around they could redeem themselves. Prior to departing for samoa, we requested a shuttle pick up for our early arrival into samoa particularly with two young kids this was important. When we arrived there was no one in sight so we paid $80tala for a taxi to the hotel. Upon arrival at 2am there was roughly 2-3 staff at the counter but no one helped us with our luggage or was there any mention of anyone failing to pick us up. Obviously at this point, we just wanted a good rest so didn’t kick up a fuss.
Otherwise, the remainder of our stay there was great! The hotel premises itself is clean and beautiful. The breakfast is standard and limited in options so we did eat out at local cafes on most days. This was our preference though. The carpark would normally be crowded with taxis parking on site so it was more annoying if anything. The staff could do with being more attentive out in the reception foyer and offering assistance when it comes to luggage etc. especially when it comes to families. If they could work on improving their customer service it can go a long way.

My family of 4 stayed at Tanoa for a week. We would like to acknowledge the reception staff, who were welcoming and helpful. The team mostly consisting of male staff are very solution focused. They were quick to fix some of the issues that we had with our room when brought to their attention. It is also worth mentioning the chefs and waiters at breakfast for their customer service - the female staff can learn a lot from them. Service with a smile, customer focused and something as simple as offering coffee when seated goes a long way. Tafa'i, in housekeeping was great. Beautiful woman and person, always checking to see if we ok or if everything in our room was in order whenever we cross paths. We also would like to acknowledge Tovale in reservations for her understanding and helping us with booking issues we had with hotels.com
The staff mentioned above at Tanoa, their mannerisms and service made our stay memorable. It will be nice to see this service carried out all across the hotel 🙂

I've stayed at Tanoa a few times, as well as other hotels in Upolu and Savaii, and can honestly say this hotel is one of, if not, the best in the country.
THE ROOMS - are huge which is rare, the beds are super comfy, the air con doesnt switch off when you open the sliding door (like at Taumeasina - and yes I get the whole eco-friendly thing but when you're dying from the heat and you're sharing a room with a vaper, it gets really annoying having to constantly turn it back on), the family rooms which we've stayed in a few times have a private patio/balcony, and the rooms are serviced daily. Buffet breakfast is usually included in the room rate.
STAFF - pretty much the only critique I have about this place is that some of the front reception staff weren't too friendly or approachable which was a shame. This was easily overlooked, however, as the wait staff at the bar and at breakfast buffet, as well as the porters, cleaners and Gardners always greeted us with a "hello", "malo", "good morning" or a smile when we passed them through the walkways or around the property. They don't expect a tip but are always so grateful when they're given one.
Choose Tanoa! You won't regret it

I would not recommend this hotel. The only few good things about it is that it is close to the markets and other stores and that it has a buffet breakfast.
After checking in thats when the disappointment starts. Room was dirty with bits and pieces on the floor, hair on wall in the bathroom, dirty coffee cups and its pretty noticeable the room is not maintained. The aircon was not strong and after asking someone to check it, it stayed the same. We had a cockroach in our room. A staff member tried to overcharge my husband on the laumdry tokens and thought it was funny because she got caught out. The pool was dirty with hair and things floating around. That was the first and last time i took my son in the pool which was a shame because it was so hot and one of the reasons why we chose Tanoa. They do not clean the pool or have not for a while. Majority of the time you have a group of staff standing around reception being unhelpful, talking and laughing amongst themselves. There were a handful of staff who were awesome.
I've heard only good things about this place from family members who have stayed here in the past but i guess as time goes on, the staff have become lazy and dont take pride in looking after the property which is a shame. I would definitely never book to stay here again.

Travelled as a couple with three young kids, the staff were very professional and friendly. The swimming pool was great, kids pool was good under the shade a bit slippery around the edges though. Our room was cleaned daily, although it was a bit dusty on arrival. Water Milk Coffee was topped up everyday which was nice gesture. buffet breakfast was nice too the eggs were cooked to your preference. Great location it’s is close to everything shops and supermarket, right across the hotel there is a playground for kids Can’t fault anything just the dust in the room on arrival would definitely stay here again and recommend to everyone
