Pedras do Mar Resort & SPA

Overall very good choice for the Azores. Having the breakfast and dinner restaurant in the hotel was so nice when traveling with kids to make things easy. Outdoor and indoor pools were great, very relaxing vibe. Only thing I would change is the bathroom did not have a fully closing door and had opaque walls so it was hard to navigate at night when kids were asleep in the hotel room. But otherwise would recommend for traveling with kids.

Overall a good resort. The location was amazing and the property is pretty large and right on the water. Don’t expect beaches because it is cliff side but the view is unmatched for the price point. We also enjoyed the spa and dinning service. The only issue we had was cleanliness. We noticed a few times the sheets we would get had stains on them and at one point there was a grainy sandy substance between the blankets and sheets after they had been made. Neither of us had been to any beach so it was a bit off putting. My robe also had what looked like dried dirt on it so I just left it on the hanger. We also found out the hard way if you don’t explicitly put the “do not disturb” sign on the door the cleaning staff will just walk in. I was getting out of the shower when it happened but thankfully my partner was able to step in. The gym is pretty run down so if your someone who plans on using that you might want to opt for the outdoor trails instead. The indoor pool was also smaller than we expected and full of kids at all hours so we just avoided it. We had no problem with it as there was plenty of other stuff to do but it might not be for people that prefer adult oriented locations as there were a lot of families with small children.

Large bedroom for our family. We enjoyed the comfortable beds and continental breakfast. The indoor swimming-pool was a delight after a day out hiking. The staff was very reactive when we needed them. I only wish there were more coat racks for all our towels to dry.

Wonderful four nights. Would recommend. Very clean, modern, & friendly staff. If you get the included breakfast buffet it is excellent. The hotel with its multiple pools seems to be very kid friendly as well. I’d say half the guests had small children or babies.
