Thon Hotel Slottsparken

We liked this hotel. We are a family of three traveling together. At this hotel the sleeping area was separated from the living area where the pull out was which my kid liked. The suite was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. The staff was outstanding! Our only complaint was that our room was quite hot and the window only opened about three inches. It didn’t matter though because we were on the second floor just above the lobby entrance. That was where everyone congregated to smoke. My kid has asthma so the window had to remain closed.

All staff are great - they are everything and top reason we would come back. Very helpful, friendly and solved problems efficiently. Stayed here 3 nights. Buffet breakfast has good varieties. Coffee and tea provided at the front lounge area 24/7 was a great addition. We originally chose this place because there are options for the rooms with kitchenette (which we needed desperately for our child who has food allergies issues). However, our first night we stayed at a room without kitchenette due to some renovation reasons. The manager and staff were very attentive, they moved us into another room with kitchenette for the rest of our stay. Everything was clean and tidy. The area is quiet, pleasant, and walkable to lots of things: shopping, tram/train stations, attractions. We would definitely come back!

What a pleasant surprise! My sister's family and my family had a 24 hour layover in Oslo, so we decided to stay here for the night. The train from the airport was simple to navigate and kids were free!! We checked our luggage in lockers at the airport and just brought backpacks. The train was spotless and we were so happy that the train stop was just a short walk to the hotel. The walk included passing the palace and through the gorgeous palace gardens. The hotel was easy to find, clean and had a lovely staff. The breakfast the next morning was actually astonishing! After a 2 week trip in Europe, this was by far the easiest hotel to access from an airport into a city, the best included breakfast and simplest overall part. We spent the evening after check-in walking through the city, and the morning just enjoying the gorgeous park across the street. Then onto the train and back to the airport. Highly recommend this for families, but also for any traveller looking for a simple, easy and pleasant getaway.

Unfortunately I have nothing good to say about our stay at this hotel. The room we got was not at all worth the money we paid. The extra bed, a pull out couch, was so uncomfortable that not even our 2-year old slept good in it. The room was worn down and shabby. There was a clicking sound in the room which kept us up all night and we could hear everything from the hallway. I heard more families complain about their rooms so probably it’s something about the bigger rooms? Due to the lack of standard and poor sleep we got we decided to go home one day early even though the had paid for the room.

Me and my teenage children had a wonderful stay in this hotel for 5 days in Oslo. The staff is very helpful, wonderful breakfast and great central location ! The room was big and functional ( business room with kitchenette). A very small hiccup was the parking, very easy & convenient, but people did not park in their allocated spots that made it a bit chaotic. But really this was a great stay !

Stayed in a Business Room for two nights with my wife and toddler. The room was big and had a sofa bed in the living area, effectively giving us two rooms which was perfect for us. It was advertised as having a bath or shower but only had a shower - not ideal for a toddler but a bath only wouldn't have been ideal for us so can't complain too much. I hadn't added my son to the booking - I thought I had messaged Thon about this but maybe I forgot - but the staff were helpful and set up the sofa bed for us before we checked into the room. I don't usually go for hotel breakfasts but it was included at Thon and was probably the best I've ever seen! The centrally controlled room temperature was set to 25c which was far too warm really. We didn't mention it so maybe it could have been adjusted by the staff.
