Chasse Hotel

Great for weekend getaway but during the week awoke each morning at 0900 to screaming children from the primary school adjacent to the hotel playing on the playground. The volume was so loud that we did not hear our alarm going off for a solid ten minutes. Otherwise very lovely hotel with gracious staff and appetizing breakfast with multiple coffee selections available.

This price point is on the lower end compared to similar hotels in Amsterdam and you get good value for money. However, keep in mind they have extra fees for certain things such as per-hour charges for early check-in and charge for a lost key. Overall the room is nice but basic with not much design going on. The upper loft is big enough to just fit the main bed. Because the ceiling is slanted there isn't much walking room up there, but we had enough floor space to store and use two suitcases. The downstairs sofa bed (which is a sort of second bedroom) is naturally a lot more spacious, and is actually a better room since it's right next to the bathroom. Room had enough outlets, and was stocked with coffee, tea and a couple snacks. The hotel is about a two-minute walk from a tram stop. We had a three-day ticket with unlimited access, so it was very convenient to go back and forth to the city center. Neighborhood is a nice residential one and feels safe, school kids play in the courtyard outside the hotel on mornings. There are shops and restaurants within walking distance, and there's even an Aldi. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. The breakfast variety is also great, and it includes espresso drinks for free. The waiter actually remembered our coffee order from the first day without us having to say :-) If you're on a budget this is a good option to see Amsterdam.
