Sofitel Essaouira Mogador Golf & Spa

Before leaving for this trip my wife was getting concerned by the number of negative reviews for this hotel and yes there are a few areas needing a little TLC. BUT - the hotel is beautiful, the staff are amazing and friendly and it is a great place to relax. The main pool is great with plenty of loungers and cabanas. The restaurant is really good with evening buffet which has a huge array of food with a menu that range that changes regularly. But breakfast was one of the many highlights for my kids. They loved the variety of options and would frequently try and one up each other on the amount of different things they had. The games room was good fun with regular inter family table tennis tournaments but also has babyfoot and pool. We walked to the beach one day which was really nice as it was pretty much deserted. Would definitely recommend for a relaxed break. Ps they run a shuttle every hour to and from Essaouira

The hotel is not well maintained the room was peeling off the color, the kids enjoyed in the pool was nice but not from what we expected

For a 5 star golf and spa this Sofitel was quite disappointing. The infrastructures go old or are severely neglected. The room had a dominant smell of humidity and humidity stains were visible all over the floor. Broken tiles in the bathtub were not replaced. Housekeeping services were not brilliant either. Housekeeping came to do our room at 8:40 in the morning or was passing by to change the towels at 21:00, always ringing the doorbell in a room with a 4 month old baby. By the way I requested baby cot upon arrival which I never received. On the positive side I have to point out the very friendly staff of the hotel!
