4 out of 5 stars

Lovely hotel in beautiful, mature gardens on the rivers edge. Spacious, tastefully designed rooms in old colonial style but with all modern features. Great views throughout and warm, welcoming staff. Fantastic pool area. The only negative was that the main hotel restaurant was closed the entire time of our stay and we were told it was because of mosquitos. We suspect that it was more related to low hotel capacity as the hotel had few guests. This was quite disappointing as the photos of the restaurant had been a key pull for us choosing this property. As such, we had to walk into town each night for dinner, when on one or two occasions, we would have liked to relax at the hotel. The walk into town is also about 20 mins and either across a bamboo bridge or wooden slatted bridge - fine for us but not for the fainthearted or elderly/those with young kids. Despite the above, we would definitely stay here again - a lovely experience. Thanks to all the wonderful staff.

5 out of 5 stars

We stayed 2 nights and booked 2 rooms as a family of 4. They put us in 2 adjacent rooms with shared balconies. It was perfect for our needs and age of kids (12 and 14 years old). The room had everything yu could possibly want and need and the layout was well-planned. The decor and architectural details are classic and beautiful giving a brand new property a bit of old world charm. We were nervous booking since it was so new but the professionalism of all of the staff was impeccable from wonderful cocktails, poolside attendants, spa treatments (we tried the Lao massage), to the presentation of meals. They even arranged a private van to take us to Vang Vieng at the end of our stay. We regretted not staying longer to try their tours which all looked great and I feel based on other efforts to be contienscious of local culture and environment that their tours are probably non-exploitative or intrusive of local culture. The property did well to use natural local products, cloth linens in the restaurant and lobby bathrooms. I am told the owner is Lao which I liked that this is local. It was too cold during our stay to swim (cold rainy weather) but its beautiful to just sit by the pool and have hot tea, cocktails and snacks. The meal presentation is beautiful!!! And we thought reasonably priced for a resort. I had a signature cocktail with Iron ball gin, and passionfruit that rivaled that of a cocktail I had at the Ritz in Paris. Breakfast is both buffet and made to order.
