Leonardo Royal Hotel Venice Mestre

If you're looking for a hotel close the Venice Mestre Train Station this is good choice. If you leave the front of the hotel and go left until the end of the street it is located just around the corner. You can access a tram to Venice Island, or the 2 Italian train lines. FYI: Don't trust G Maps to get you to Venice Island. My wife and I followed it and took the LONG cut missing the train station on the 1st day of our trip. About the hotel. The lobby and bar area are very nice. The security to get on the elevators is excellent, you have to use your room key to get the elevator open and you can only go to your floor. And if someone jumps on the elevator to go up, they can't get back down until someone else swipes their room key to open it. It seems like a very good security measure. The Bad. After a day of traveling I wanted a shower and unfortunately the shower drain was clogged and the edge of the shower door was low. So luckily, my wife noticed it before a major problem occurred. I cleaned up the spilled water, and unclogged the drain. So all good. Then we went out following G Directions. For some reason they suck in Venice. Eventually we made it to Venice Island. At midnight my wife and I returned for a good night sleep in a small, but beautiful room. That ended as soon as we turned down the bed. There was a 4" memory foam type of pad on the bed with a rubbery waterproof mattress protector on it. It was like trying to sleep in a baby crib. Not good.

Location is good, 10 mins by train to Venice and you can be away from the crowd when you take some rest. The room is solid; most of the days the service is good, the last day two elevators were down so a lot of ppl were waiting for elevators to check-out and also waiting at the reception. As my family all waited, one of the receptionist let one another customer cut the line, I felt really unprofessional.

Ordered and paid for air port transfer. No one arrived. After a long wait and several calls someone finaly arrived. Hotel didnt appologize, didt refund. To the contrary, wanted to charge me more for my kid. Very unhelpfull front desk
