Our stay at the Hotel Plaza was exactly what we hoped for and more. It was conveniently located to the train and ferry transportation. The room was simple and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend it to my friends and family.

This is a beautiful hotel with a warm and welcoming staff. Our room was small, but clean and lovely. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast room and buffet was excellent with fresh coffee made to order. We loved hearing about the family history of the owners. A delightful stay in every way!

Such a lovely surprise! The room was quiet, even being on a square by train station. Delightful breakfast with so many choices, the pastries were incredibly delicious. I love cappuccino and staff made 3 for me. This is a family owned hotel and it shows, by the love put into this centrally located hotel. We wish had a longer stay, but will this hotel be on our list, if ever return to this area of Italy.

Hotel Plaza is easy to access being just across from the Salerno Station. Perhaps the view of the station and bus station was not very scenic, however it was ever changing and interesting! It was not far to wander down to the waterfront and there are ferries to take you across to the Amalfi Coast. The Hotel is on the corner of a Corso (pedestrian street) where there are many cafes and some interesting shopping. Further up the Corso is the old town where you can find the 11th century Duomo (Cathedral) where Pope Gregory VII and St Matthew are buried. Nearby is the archaeological museum (a bit tricky to find) which has an excellent collection of Ancient Greek pottery, red and black figure classical period, which was found in a nearby necropolis. Also the museum usually holds the bronze head of Apollo, which I was disappointed to find had been lent out to somewhere else. Going back along the Corso you will find the Pinto Mansion which is now an art gallery - good for a rainy day with a mixture of medieval, early midern and modern art. As for the Hotel, this family run business is most welcomiing and I felt very at home. The breakfast buffet is a delight, with the owner taking great pride in personally selecting the organic foods - even the eggs!! My bathroom was newly renovated with beautiful tiles from Vetri. Pillows were good - mattress a bit hard. While the Hotel Plaza is not a luxury establishment, I had a very pleasant stay and would definitely stay there again.
