Beautiful cave experience. We stayed in a junior suite with our two teenage children. The room was beautiful and such a neat experience for all 4 of us. Very beautiful views. Highly recommend this place.

Unique hotel in an amazing location. Lots of walking but it is the only way to see Matera. I had 3 requests when I made my reservation a few weeks ago and none of those simple requests were met upon arrival. The night front desk employees (Antonio) were NOT welcoming, hospitable or helpful. Did not even offer to take the luggage to the room. The daytime front desk person, Elena?, was the able to switch our room to be next door to our children the next day without hesitation. Despite the unfriendly attitude of the other front desk staff, the hotel offers a interesting experience

I originally chose this hotel because it was one of the few that had a pool. I only found out later that it was for 18plus and my 2 year old toddler could not enjoy it. The hotel inside is run down and I understand it’s in an old city but the room was outdated in the sense of not being updated since the 90s. The bed was okay. The breakfast was we okay. The location was was okay a bit of a hard town to navigate so just be prepared to get lost in the winding levels of the town. The town itself was lovely and so happy I was able to experience it.

The hotel location is wonderful, great backdrop of the old town while providing a wonderful Italian breakfast that offers tasty pastries and wonderful lattes. Some areas of color for those traveling as a family w young children. The pool and spa facilities do not permit children under the ages of 18 while third parties such as Orbitz / Expedia offer conflicting details on this topic. Separately, the hotel features rooms that are marketed as “ separate buildings” but fails to suggest this means these select rooms are also “off site” and within a 3-6 minute walk away from the property / hotel which leaves you isolated away from the hotel which was not pleasing upon arrival. The first evening, our room had a poor AC system which only cooled a select part of the room while we also experienced no working AC. The hotel was very accommodating to resolving these matters and their owner offered us a nice suite the next evening to offer his gratitude for the poor experience the evening prior. Overall, a nice stay at this hotel which offers transportation from the in-town garage to the hotel which is a nice perk.
